Keep in mind I believe Mira Costa has suspended players due to many of them bringing alcohol to a tourney in Hawaii I thought they had to forfeit the Loyola game. More than that game?

Maybe they are back then. Idk I was told they players might have been suspended. I have not seen them pre Santa Barbara tournament but they did not look like a top D1 team

I'll be working the Mira Costa @ Newport Harbor match tonight and I'm disappointed that MC will not be at full strength if what's being discussed in this thread is true. Newport has been steam-rolling teams and it seems there isn't a squad who can challenge them. It's hard to see a team at their best (which I know is better than I've seen this season) when there isn't a team testing them. It almost is "too easy" for this Newport team. Cole Pender (UCLA bound) and Dayne Chalmers are easily the best OHs in the State and they also have a talented Opp in Jack Higgs. Their middles are consistent and Karlous the setter is a great setter. Hopefully I can get some video and post.

I didn’t know someone who doesn’t have the vertical to jump over a credit card (Chalmers) would be considered one of the best outsides. Lol.

Pender doesn't jump very well either, yet they are both highly sought after players for college coaches. Thankfully you're not a talent evaluator.

Appreciate the enthusiasm, Rob, but I'm pretty sure you'd have a number of teams (and individuals) who might take umbrage with this. I absolutely agree that NH is currently the best team, and we will probably see an even better team if (and I believe when) they are pushed; but, they are also beatable, just like any other team, especially at the high school level. Regarding their OH's, I think your assessment is just a tad over the top. Pender...possibly at best (he's definitely talented, but his dominance as an outside at the club level just isn't there any longer). Chalmers...I want some of what you're smokin...enough said. He's a great kid and no negativity meant towards him...just struggle to see him being one of the top two outsides in the state. Now, if you mean they are the top OH combo on one high school team, I'd agree with you.

They are perhaps playing better than any of the other outsides in high school right now - partly due to the team around them. And - this duo will continue to play together once they hit their club season.

Newport Harbor is solid at every position and have excellent ball control and serve tough. They have no weak spots. They are very well coached too. They have high level players at every position and may have the best combo outsides on a high school team. But there are better outsides in the state. Mira Costa’s max Cajuste being one of them.

The latest top ten D1 SS polls are
1. Newport Harbor 2. South Torrance 3. Loyola 4. Corona Del Mar 5. Huntington Beach 6. Redondo Union 7. Alemany 8. Mira costa T9. Mater Dei T9. Westlake
Who are the teams to look out for in the playoffs other than the obvious NH, Loyola, CDM powerhouses?
