The number of beach schools are now in the 70’s—so about 1/5 of the number of indoor schools.
It will be really interesting if the Midwest Volleyball powers decide to invest in it. I think the thought back in the day was that having beach volleyball would also be good for indoor volleyball—but the thinking now is that the opposite might be true. A lot of really good players in the West Coast (especially in the 5’10 to 6’2 range) are choosing beach over indoor. It’s diluting the indoor talent pool somewhat and indoor coaches arent just recruiting against each other but sometimes another sport as well.

Is Julia Scoles a definite? Yes, I've seen her Instagram post where she dons the UH cap and shirt. But I haven't seen anything official released by UH, like Angel Gaskin. Maybe Hall is expecting or is pursuing other prospects and will wait until recruiting is pau before announcing it. Instead of announcing Scoles and then later announcing another girl, he is waiting for everything to be finalized before making an announcement. Possible another grad transfer is inquiring about coming and is waiting for school to finish. Maybe Adora Anae wants to come home and be part of a championship team. Waiting to hear from the UH nursing program and then Hall is going to announce that Julia Scoles is on board and Adora is coming home. :-) That would be pretty awesome if that dream come true.

Too late. Adora Anae has been signed by a Korean League pro team for next season.

Looking ahead to next season, Hawaii loses a ton of firepower. However, with some experienced returnees and hungry benchwarmers/recruits, I think the Sandbows will continue to dominate the Big West. This may be a bit early but here are my predictions for next year's flight lineup:
Flight #1: Martin/Homayun Flight #2: Ozee/Huddleston Flight #3: Monkhouse/Luyties Flight #4: Scoles/Napoleon Flight #5: Loker/Dreeuws Flight #6 (Exh): Bunn/Kidd

2 players from those pairs seem to be leaving.
If so, 4/6 of the 2017 freshman class will have left. The remaining 2 are Ozee and Martin.

Kidd and Luyties are transferring, doubt Bunn makes top 5 pairs.

Well that rapidly reduces the depth chart. Here are my new predictions:
Flight #1: Martin/Homayun Flight #2: Ozee/Huddleston Flight #3: Monkhouse/Napoleon Flight #4: Scoles/Dreeuws Flight #5: Bunn/Loker Flight #6 (Exh): Hurkett/Banz
Bench: Misraje, Russo, Stevens, White, Forbes
I'm a bit worried with Luyties and Kidd leaving. I hope Hall can get some transfers to reload for next year's squad.

Kidd and Luyties are transferring, doubt Bunn makes top 5 pairs. Any idea to which Uni and why? I thought Monkhouse was going to be one of players you mentioned. The roster seems pretty stacked with only a handful (more or less) graduating. Which seems to be a good opportunity for them to fill but even then it seems as if they have a ton of commits. With the field expanding I guess it does make sense for others to get move and get playing time if the roster is very competitive.
Also do you think they would separate Ozee and Homayun?
Hall is known to separate pairs year after year, so I wouldn't be surprised to see them separate. The only pair that I remember staying together more than one year is Taylor/Schucht, who played at 2's both years. As for Forbes, I have no idea what to expect from her. She played at USAV w/ Bunn and almost beat some really good East 1's teams. I hope she surprises next year.

Why do you think Monkhouse? I do not think Hall will split up Ozee and Homayun. They have awesome chemistry that will be tough to split up. It's possible they split them up depending on the final roster, but I would bet against it at this point.

I hope Hall can get some transfers to reload for next year's squad. Scoles is a stud but she will likely be with a player with a high beach IQ to help her advance quickly on the beach. Athletically, she will excel quickly. She should be quite capable of defending or blocking (possibly split blocking/defending). Martin or Monkhouse are possibilities to pair her with (Monkhouse is a better defender and Martin a better blocker). I'll withhold predictions for pairs and flights for awhile, but no way Monkhouse plays at 3. Ozee will be behind Monkhouse (assuming Monkhouse returns). Huddleston is a good player and will crack the lineup if she is back. Loker, Dreeuws and Napolean should be in the top pairs. These are the players in the top 10 should they return and are healthy (obviously there is speculation on several players for various reasons whether or not they will return). We currently don't have any "big" 6'3 or above players at present, but we have decent size. Hopefully, we add one or two (a transfer could also be in the works). Also, would like to see a player come back who really wants to crack the lineup and be super fit. Ozee made huge strides as did Weaver coming back after killing it in the summer. Hopefully Napoleon will really step up. She can hit well, but is physically capable of being a defender. Monkouse 6'0" Martin 6'1" Scoles 6'1" Ozee 6'1"/Homayun Loker 6'0" Huddleston Dreeuws Napoleon Luyties The team is one or two players from returning as strong as last season. It could also go the other way really quickly if we lose a few key players. A good transfer (grad student type with some height) would be nice especially to fill in at the 5 pair. It will be interesting to see who is confirmed to return as that will be the difference-maker.

Taylor and Schucht only played together for a half season or less which is partly why they were paired together, that and Taylor requested to play with her if she returned. Ozee and Homayun could be a pair that would be tough to separate. I think they will stay together.

However, I do think Hall will want to spread the experience out for next season and change things up. Kan/Homayun & Maglio/Weaver were very successful pairs in 2017, but he split them up the next season. It wouldn't be unprecedented if Homayun/Ozee split so I wouldn't be surprised. EDIT: Also, I believe Loker is 6'0".
