My mistake! I was thinking of Frenchie Gettings (going to Cal) for some reason! Loker is 6'0". I agree that Hall has traditionally split up pairings to strengthen the overall team or because there was minor chemistry issues (despite success). I agree that the pair could be split up, but this pair has a special chemistry that will be hard to separate. They are two fun-loving nuts on and off the court. I think Ozee could likely be a the three spot this coming season (possibly at the number two flight depending on how the lineup shakes out). It's a key position in the lineup and I can't think of anyone she (Ozee) would be stronger with at that position. Homayun and Maglio were good together in practices and would have been the only other she would probably have been paired with last season. She works well with a big blocker. IMO

It’s tough to lose someone like Luyties but she maybe she senses that she will still be in a battle for PT so she is taking the safe route and moving on.
There is still a possibility of a grad transfer or two OR maybe even a couple of indoor seniors playing beach....like Casey Castillo/McKenna Granato/Sarah Liva. After this coming indoor season is over, their obligation to indoor will be over and they can concentrate on beach.

Sad to hear about the transfers. I was looking forward to seeing Luyties in one of the flights.

My guess is that Chloe got soured when Hall put true freshman Page Dreeuws over her. I also believed that another true freshman Pani Napoleon would have played over Chloe if Pani didn’t decide to redshirt.
With Loker coming in with big time cred and indoor stud Julia Scoles being hyped as a future star, there will be a big time battle for PT.
Scoles got me excited. She is just a phenomenal athlete. Top 6 recruit nationally as an indoor volleyball player. All State basketball player in North Carolina. Two times High Jump and Long Jump champion in NC and possess a 30 inch vertical. Plenty of tools to work with.

With Luyties, if she does in fact decide to transfer out, it may have to do with some other factors rather than playing time. She did some traveling with the team and she knew she would be possibly breaking into the top flights for next year.
With some teams carrying big rosters, you would think some transfers are inevitable. I wonder if there will be any defects from some of the other top teams as a result...players who want to see playing time but aren't. Maybe UH will get lucky.
I'm not sure if Granato would be a good beach candidate, but you never know. It takes time for indoor players to get comfortable in the sand, and either those with prior beach experience or some exceptional athletes like Maglio, Kan and Scoles, to take to the game quickly (although Kan did have prior beach experience). Casey might be a better bet to rejoin the team once her indoor is done. She was close to making the top flights before, so it really depends on how the roster shakes out.

They should expand the flights to 7 considering the total number of players in any team. Make it best of 7. It should not be that hard because theyre only playing 3 sets (2 of 21 and 15 on third).

I think what they wanted to do was kind of make it congruent to the best of 5 format that exists in indoor volleyball.

It was posted a few weeks ago that Luyties and Kidd were no longer with the team. Recently Luyties announced she's transferring to Cal. Third player we had transfer to Cal since beach has started.

Its really a smart move on their part. If those kids go to an established beach school, they will have a tough time finding PT which would kind of waste their transfer. Being at Cal will allow them to pay in-state tuition and also possibly get a chance to play.
Emma Smith, who transferred last year, didn't get much PT...at least I didn't see her name in any of the matches I checked.

Emma had an injury for a good part of the season (indoor) and didn't play beach. Chloe will likely see playing time at Cal...unfortunate loss for UH (she likely would have made the top pairs if she stayed at UH). SaveSave

Heard they might get another transfer that’s basically on Luyties level so sandbows might not lose a beat.
