I have very little experience with Korean food. I'm not sure why ... the little I've had, I liked. The comment about little dishes reminds me of the time that I was invited to a rijsttafel in Den Haag. That was good. I also like the Ethiopian meal where a bunch of different things are placed on a large injera and everyone eats off of it. I eventually got used to the injera, it isn't my favorite thing, but it comes with every Ethiopian meal so I got to like it, a little. I keep thinking it looks a lot like Dr. Scholl's insole.

One dish I’m liking here in China is called 酸菜鱼, or sauerkraut fish. What it is is basically a hotspot of thinly sliced fish in a sauerkraut based broth...mind you it the Chinese version of the sauerkraut. Can have it spicy, or mildly spicy, but soup sure is sour and delicious when consumed hot.
Just had it the other day at a chain restaurant called 青花椒 in Shanghai and it was delicious. Should try it the next time you visit Shanghai. They also have a side dish called 口水鸡, mouth watering chicken, that is one of the best I have had. Mainly because they serve it boneless on a bed of thinly sliced bamboo, and it’s mildly spicy. It’s soaking in a bowl of red sauce that would make you think twice, but it’s really not that spicy at all. Their 香蕉煎饼, banana pancakes, is also worth trying...very good.

Pizza buffet fro me today.
I'm going to run 4 miles and do a lot of total body exercises -- chin ups, push ups, crunches, lunges, squats. Then, stop at a pizza buffet and pig out.

The main problem with "pizza buffet" is the same main problem with most "buffet" -- it tends to be really bad pizza. Now bad pizza is relative, but the glorious things about living in today's world: 1) the internet, 2) antibiotics and vaccines, 3) quality pizza is available almost everywhere.

I love the mouth watering chicken. It become very popular here in the midwest. My other recent favorites are water boiled beef. Very spicy and tasty. Beef on a bed of cooked cabbage drowning in a broth with tons of szechuan peppercorn. It will make you sweat. Another one is the sliced pig's eat. It is served cold and sliced super thin and marinated in a hot spicy sauce

The flavor will vary depending on the water where the sea urchin was harvested. Apparently, much of the uni served in the US comes from the California coast. In Hokkaido, a cold region, I had uni served as a pasta sauce, which was in itself surprising, but it was really good.

My most recent food dislike. Kale.
I never liked kale but I never vehemently opposed it. I thought it was just meh. I recently was at a conference where they served a kale salad. It was akin to chewing razor blades. No real taste, really disagreeable to chew on the kale, and no amount of dressing or added walnuts or anything else can punch up the flavor. I guess I will eat cooked kale if I am served but would much prefer collard greens, but cooked with a lot of fatback or hamhock.

Even if you get through that, it gets lodged in your teeth and feels like its glued there.

Some people (like me) love it. Just straight iodine flavor is not especially tasty though. I've had water purified with iodine, and it's a little overwhelming.
