maybe I'm an oldhead but I've seen too much Midwest hype flame out over the years for me to buy any stock this time around. (shout out to carthage '12)
I played across the end of the NECVA days into the early UVC when the conference was the premier gauntlet of talent... any theories as to why the conference is so much weaker now (both at the top and in number of quality teams)? why has Naz fallen off from its days as a perennial dark horse for the national title?
Has D3 finally achieved parity? or is this year just a weird one

NP loses 3-1...you can lol their schedule all you want, they are still 6-2 in the D III NCAA tournamnet...and have played in EVERY NCAA D III tourney to date. Maybe NP is in the toughest conference, still doesnt make a difference in the tournament, does it? Welllll that may have been true up until last year’s tournament. NP did not make it to the tournament last year NP didn't make it the first year either. So it looks like they only made 5 of the 7 tournaments. And that also makes it seem that unless they won 3 championships, they would need to have more than 2 losses.

the real match of the day is Stevenson vs. their former All-american setter. Should be fun to watch

Has D3 finally achieved parity? or is this year just a weird one I think the core of the answer is that there are just so many more options now for guys to go play. The example you picked, Naz, now has legit in-town competition in SJFC, or even some more "local" options at a low level D1 that maybe some top talent that would have stayed to play at Naz, are now looking at. There is still definitely the upper echelon of the Haves and Have Nots, but the gap is closing across the board it seems.

Has D3 finally achieved parity? or is this year just a weird one I think the increase in programs for Division III level without similar increase in club quality/participation has thinned out recruiting pool. Kids who used to flock to Naz are now spreading themselves out across the country. A few programs have figured out a way to remain relevant still (Springfield, Stevens, New Paltz) but then you have different programs rise and fall based on the current personnel and combination of talent (Wentworth '16 & '17) or a special athlete who is transformative for program (Knigge- Vassar, Shorts- Stevenson, etc.)

Has D3 finally achieved parity? or is this year just a weird one Parity. NYU, Juniata & Springfield were playing in a Division I conference so the adjustment period was rough on 2 of the 3. Different mindset, different talent. What is _________ (insert new program from last 10 years)? from playing Penn State, Loyola or Mason every year. This also put a bullseye on their respective backs from being a hunter to the hunted. Every school's put their best effort against those 3. As more schools arrived the newer ones build their chip huge and fought tooth and nail to be respected by the older programs. Carthage in the Midwest is one of the hunted that used to be a hunter as well. With growth comes pain but not for the programs who remain hungry. Learn to play with that chip or can handle being a target. Vassar, Stevens, Rivier, New Paltz, UCSC are programs with history that have done okay but everyone can see the parity building. This will be eventually good for the sport.

Can we get serious for a minute. Who has the top 5 mustaches in d3? Back in my day Stevens had a lefty outside named Landis who was a god damn bounce line hero, and rocked a killer stache the last year of NECVA. Unfortunately I can't contribute to this year's discussion

From my vantage point. Biggers had a great one early on this season. the view online is tough though.

If you could make a “dream team” of D3 players, who’d you pick?

If you could make a “dream team” of D3 players, who’d you pick? Chris Fazio for sure, former MH for Juniata.
