lol if benedictine is so bad they can't even qualify for D2, how can they expect to compete at the D3 level? wouldn't be surprised if they moved down to D4 within the next couple of years This affects all the sports for Benedictine, not just men's volleyball. There's a good chance that men's volleyball had nothing to do with the decision to stay at D3. Can you tell me what they needed to do to qualify for D2? so you're saying that benedictine men's volleyball was so bad that the entire school decided to stay D3 to not be embarrassed in the big leagues?

Benedictine was never a bad D3 program. Certainly one that would continue to get better and more legit. However, I'm sure part of there allure was Coach Dan saying they were going to be playing in Division 1 in the coming years. Now that's out of the question, but I assume they will always be a half way decent D3 program.
It's really not that great of a school and the campus is nothing special...As more of the good D3 Chicago schools get mens volleyball, Prospects will decide to play at Augustana, Dominican, North Central, or similar schools over BU. I bet there are a lot of kids at BU that feel VERY misled...

Great question. I am unsure on this but I can tell you that Adam Schefter has confirmed that Bard will host the UVC tournament and take out Stevens first round.

EMU is expected to have a down year in 2019 (with or without Taylor).

Stevenson returns strong senior class featuring Landon and Co. He was heavily courted by some other D3s, but ultimately chose Mustangs. To my knowledge, no 35 jersey available and I doubt Landon is giving up #1 so that is up in the air.

Looks like the Mormons will take over Virginia with Marymount also losing talent

That Southern Virginia team is solid. They have some undersized middles (Wilson) that are very effective, a consistent OH in Clark and a decent setter. They pass well. Horrible place to place though. That low ceiling and the myriad of displays that make up that 'big screen' appear distracting.

Any take on Kean this year? They are losing some key pieces, however they have depth. What about New Paltz?

Stevens tournament this weekend was solid overall. Stevens had teams split into 2. Varsity 1 team was dynamic and explosive led by Lehman and DeBoer with Patterson mixing it up well. Varsity 2 had a nice Sophomore outside who may be able to contribute and will certainly provide depth.
Hunter also looked strong with a big physical group especially for CUNYAC. Alex Helford does a really nice job and may be one of most underrated setters in the country along with McGuire from Dominican.
Last team that left strong impression was St. Joseph's (LI). Young team that plays with great energy and tenacity. Reminded me of the Kean and Stevenson teams of yester-year. Having a lot of fun while on the floor. Paul Curaro is a lot of fun to watch and may be a dark horse for All-American.
Lastly, I worked with Vinnie from OTB and a few coaches around the country to collect votes for a Division III Pre-Season All-American list. Keep an eye out for the release of the list and hope all of you enjoy.
