Gold medal match isn’t happening for Kelly and Brit. Maybe they’ll try for bronze... They’re down 6-12 now in the second set, having lost the first set. They lose 17 and 12. Kelly was just awful in this match. Couldn’t side out at all. Didn’t seem to have much power on her swing and Heather dug everything. Also some shanked passes and general sloppiness in transition. Brit was getting demonstrably frustrated with her, but her setting wasn’t always great either.

Three semis and two finals in a row is awesome. Is it possible Canada has a new no. 1? (They have benefited from some nice fat brackets though. Other than the Czechs twice, they haven't really beaten anyone good. They can't control who they play though)

Yeah, Agatha/Duda and that German team would be harder to beat than the Canadians.
Excited to see what’s happens next week!

How is Bansley/Wilkerson so strong on FIVB? Their tallest player is the same size as most teams shortest player (not that that means anything). But both these players were castoffs from their last partnership.

Brit and Kelly against Agatha and Duda in the bronze medal match...
I think they’ll place 4th.
Hope Heather and Brandie wins the gold though!

The beach game seems to be such a roller coaster. Right now, Bansley and Wilkerson seem to be the hottest team on the tour. Regardless of whether they are getting a lot of favorable matchups, they are still winning and defeating teams that others are losing to. When the season started, it seemed as if April and Alix were the team to watch out for and that didn't last long, then Pavan and MHP hit number one and haven't been the same since, then many thought that Summer Ross and Sara Hughes were the next big U.S. team and they seem to be in funk right now. It will be very interesting as the season progresses to see if anyone can stay on a consistent roll. One thing seemscertain right now, the days of one team dominating the tour for years like Walsh-Jennings/May may be over.

We’re halfway into the 2018 season now but it feel like there hasn’t been much tournaments this year...

I wish they would go back to sideout scoring to make the game more earned, but the good thing now is teams don't have the luxery of having a bad match. You have to play well, all the time to get results. Definitely consistency is a huge plus today.

One thing seemscertain right now, the days of one team dominating the tour for years like Walsh-Jennings/May may be over. Next year those days will be back when Laura/Kira return. This year is actually pretty predictable in hindsight (except Brandi/Heather) This parity is a result of the top two teams taking the year off. (LL/KW won 1/3 of their events, as did Larissa/Talita) Thats really the only change. If you look at least year's finishes, minus those two teams, they are pretty much what we have this year. Fernanda/Barbara, Duda/Agatha, Sara/MHP, Carolina/Maria, and Chantal/Julia all won once last year, and this year Fernanda got Carolina's win and otherwise - if Chantal/Julia win tomorrow- it will be the same this year. I think a lot of us expected Sara/MHP and Agatha/Duda to step up and they haven't quite yet, but they still have time.

But both these players were castoffs from their last partnership. Brandie is just so athletic and she jumps and blocks like someone several inches taller. But their ball control has also improved greatly. Heather is very solid on defense. Neither player made many mistakes today against Kelly and Brit. They are a fun team to watch as well.

Brandie is getting so many good touches at the net in this gold medal match and hitting great shots around the court. They are definitely looking like the best Canadian team at the moment.

As expected, Brit/Kelly lose the bronze medal match 17-21, 18-21 against Agatha/Duda.
