Brit/Kelly in Pool A as SP/MHP. Menegatti/Giombini finally into another maindraw. Happy for them! Although I don’t think they’ll make it out of pool with Barbara/Fernanda, Kolocova/Kvapilova (who placed 25th in their home sand last week), and the young Russians. KWJ/NB in Pool D. They play Huberli/Betschart first. Also in the same pool is silver medalists from last week, Heather and Brandie. Kelly and Summer in Pool E. They play Schützenhöfer/Plesiutschnig first. Then probably Hermannova/Slukova. Em Day/Betsi in Pool F alongside Agatha/Barbara, Borger/Kozuch, and Lili/Josi. Aka getting out of pool is not happening. KWJ/NB will have a very tough time making it out of pool themselves...They are not playing that great of VB combined with Kerri trying to run p1440 from overseas...She is usually very good at focusing & multi tasking but it appears she is looking ahead to Sept. more than she about gaining FIVB points. Or maybe it just appears that way...Maybe she is also holding back not wanting to get injured so soon...

donnyw If KWJ/NB lose the first game, they will still have a chance against China 2. Although Nicole vs Brandie would be an interesting matchup.

They will murder China 2 but that first match is a winnable one and if they arent at least competitive in 3, that has to be the death knell for this partnership. Why would Kerri keep risking her health to bottom feed?

Kerri/Nicole about to win game 2. Anyone want to bet on how many match points they blow this week?

NM. they decided to blow a set point and lose in 2 so as not to be predictable with their choking

Kelly/Britt won in straight sets, shaky in the first set but bounced back in the 2nd. Kerri/Nicole lost in straight sets, not sure how to judge them anymore, could go either direction. Emily/Betsi lost in straight sets, just a guess but possibly wont get out of pool. Sara/Summer won in straight sets, looked good but not sure if they will be 1st or 2nd in pool. Good matches to follow! Excited to see a rematch of Xiamens 4star finals of Canada vs USA. Let's see if they can make the right adjustments after training with them.

Lili and Josi lost to the Germans at -14 and -13.
There’s a sliver of a chance that Em Day and Betsi Flint can win over them. Just a slight sliver though.

Guest & Donny..You two act like Kerri & Nicole are getting slaughtered every match they play. They aren’t. They are in every one of these matches until the end against some very good teams. Yes, they have blown and few games. I think at this point it has to be expected. I think this team gets better & better and they get more confident out there. Do, I agree that this is new territory (9ths & 17ths) especially for Kerri? Yes. But Nicole is her choice and looking around the USA Beach system right now, I’m not seeing anyone else that would compliment her style and would mesh well enough to start qualifications with in Sept.

I saw about half, I was working. It was pretty typical, although Nicole trap set Kerri a lot, probably because of trying too hard not to set her off due to the shoulder issue. Kerri again blocked well, at least in the parts I saw, and they had most of the same struggles. China is awful so they should advance, but after this I think they go to the CQ and qualifiers so they could really use some points and absent a great draw, Im not sure I see how they get them

They really need to thank the team who dropped out to rehab so they can play well for the remainder of the season — ATeam.

Three month is plenty of time for a team to mesh and Nicole is 39 years old. She isnt getting better. Kerri may get healthier and these 9ths and 17ths may change to 5ths and 9ths, maybe even a semi now and then (if Kelly/Britt can) but no team with Nicole on it is going to be a consistent contender at the top level.

Has it been an ongoing injury or a nagging one. Didn’t realize she had and shoulder problems until I read it on here before Seattle..

Is it possible at this point in both their careers that they are just happy to be able to be out here playing the game they love against the best teams in the world? If Toyko doesn’t happen , it doesn’t happen..Life goes on. Isn’t it what most of these womens teams are doing anyway? Look at the number of women’s teams signing up for these 4 & 5 Star events with no shot at going to Toyko. I will just disagree with you. I think this team gets better. Some big wins coming their way.
