Three month is plenty of time for a team to mesh and Nicole is 39 years old. She isnt getting better. Kerri may get healthier and these 9ths and 17ths may change to 5ths and 9ths, maybe even a semi now and then (if Kelly/Britt can) but no team with Nicole on it is going to be a consistent contender at the top level. Is it possible at this point in both their careers that they are just happy to be able to be out here playing the game they love against the best teams in the world? If Toyko doesn’t happen , it doesn’t happen..Life goes on. Isn’t it what most of these womens teams are doing anyway? Look at the number of women’s teams signing up for these 4 & 5 Star events with no shot at going to Toyko. I will just disagree with you. I think this team gets better. Some big wins coming their way. Its certainly possible and I think before Kerri thats what Nicole was doing, but for Kerri Walsh? I see Kerri as one of those people who would stab her mother for a win. Karch was that way, Jordan, etc. Plus Kerri is still good enough to win. It would be one thing if she were out there just puttering around, but there are maybe 3-4 women who can claim to be better blockers, and she still has her speed etc. to some degree.

They’ll be in CQ next week in Portugal but got the wildcard for Gstaad. They really need to thank the team who dropped out to rehab so they can play well for the remainder of the season — ATeam. Tamz...Do you know much about Alixs shoulder issue? Has it been an ongoing injury or a nagging one. Didn’t realize she had and shoulder problems until I read it on here before Seattle.. April just mentioned that Alix had a flare up in Austin and they knew they would skip NYC or Seattle but because NYC was a gold series, she skipped Seattle instead. I think she’s ok, Alix was still practicing with Coach Jen in California while April was in Seattle playing last week. They just wanted to properly rehab her shoulder so she’ll be strong for the rest of the season. They’re expected to compete in Portugal next week.

Claes and Hochevar take down MHP and Pavan in straight sets. The Canadians are nowhere near the top team in the world currently. Pavans play is inconsistent at best. She struggles to side out, serve recieve, and even her sets weren't that great. MHP had some attack errors but overall she is carrying their team right now. If I was MHP, I would call Brandie and see if she was interested in a switch.
Brit and Kelly played ok. Nothing super notable. Kelly had a good presence at the net and blocked Sarah several times. Brit is a steady player and probably a good influence on the younger Claes.

But it’s the elimination matches that count.

Summer and Sara down 14-16 in first. Lose 5 straight. That’s awful. How do you not side out 4 times in a row....

Canadians have looked weak last few weeks. Like loosing to Knudsen and Sykora??

Summer is really struggling, just lost game 2 on a 6-1 run. Summer got blocked a few times and the Czechs were right on their shots.

All you people who keep saying if Kerri can get healthy just stop. Her shoulder is not going to get miraculously better. The team can get better but it will be by adjusting their game to Kerri's weak shoulder. I would say maybe in the off season but with her new league she probably will be playing. We will see what happens. We also need to quit judging teams by one match. Britt and Kelly stink oh wait now they are good because they beat Canada. The truth is no teams are winning or losing always. Teams are like yo yo's up and down.

I dont believe Kerri's shoulder will get better, only that its the only foreseeable way that team improves since otherwise they are playing to their abilities. Nicole is not getting faster and the only other area where they could improve much is Kerri's passing and its not much worse than its always been As for Kelly/Britt, they played more than a few bad matches, but its good to see an American team doing well. Still don't think much of their long term prospects but between this and Xiamen, definitely starting to recognize I could be wrong about that.

Am I too quick to say that Em Day and Betsi won’t make it out of pool?
