They also play both Maryland and Indiana twice - could they win one? Maryland, maybe, considering how bare the Terps' cupboard is.

Really, the rest of the Big Ten needs Rutgers to schedule the most winnable preconference it can to try to keep them from dragging down everyone else's RPI too much.

What a HORRIBLE move to bring Rutgers and Maryland into the conference. Both schools are in over their heads in ALL sports. I don't care that they are near New York and Washington DC. It is not worth the mediocrity they bring which taints the conference. Rutgers football is an absolute disaster for the Big 10. Maryland has top notch teams in women's basketball, soccer, field hockey, and lacrosse. They have a decent men's basketball team and decent football team. In the Capital One Cup, on the women's side, they are consistently top 5. In the ACC they hold the record for 2nd most conference titles ever. Maryland also brings in more athletic revenue than Indiana, Illinois, Purdue, Rutgers and Northwestern. Also, believe it or not, NCAA conferences are not 100% about athletics. Maryland and Rutgers are both very good public schools. If athletics were everything, Vanderbilt would have been kicked out of the SEC a long time ago.

Excited to see how international players can help Rutgers. With low funding I hope admin looks for ways to make cost of attendance more available. International is the way to go!

Gotta wonder how much Anna Khrystenko, the assistant coach, has to do with all this International recruiting? Seems like a lot of those recruits and roster come from her neck of the woods. I think this was the idea when they brought her in. Clearly they didn't get anybody like this before her so I would guess this is all her. Then SHE has done a great job!

I can already hear the "USA! USA!" chants during road matches.

This is exciting news for Rutgers. I genuinely hope that they can get a few BIG10 wins this fall and at least put up a much better fight.

Rutgers will get paid TV eventually, still it is shameful what AD Hermann did to the dept on her watch.

To the people who are talking about Rutgers winning big 10 matches... slow your roll!

To the people who are talking about Rutgers winning big 10 matches... slow your roll! Well I didn't say matches - just a single match. Hope I can say I CALLED IT Maryland is mostly likely, as RainbowBadger mentioned. However, Rutgers pushed Indiana to 5 last year, and should be better this season.

Rutgers is going to upset Michigan this year. Well, you just might have a credibility problem given your handle. As for wishful thinking, I understand.

Rutgers may win 1 or 2 games in the conference this year, its unfortunate but every conference has those 1-4 teams which under performs but how great would it be even though you're potentially getting destroyed by 6-8 top 25 teams to say you've had the chance to play them??? IDK, I'd take the scholarship bc Maryland and Rutgers have strong educational programs and that's really what most of these kids want and parents!!!

So Maryland can pile up Big 10 titles in Lacrosse and Field Hockey. That will mean nothing to their national profile or impact fans across the country.
