Why is Ensing being ruled out?

Ensing was on the Week 1 roster, and got zero court time. He's not on the Week 2 or 3 rosters.
If we're worried that Patch doesn't have the reps to be elite yet, then there's surely even less of a window open for anybody to get enough reps to overtake Patch (in time for Tokyo? -- but surely Patch is getting reps now to prep for WChs in September). I have no idea how close Ensing is to that level; I've never seen him.
Ensing just finished his sophomore season at Long Beach State. He already played U21 in 2017, so he's surely cycled out of that age group. (N.B. we were physically overmatched by U21 powerhouses Turkey and Egypt, not even counting the auto-losses to Cuba, Russia, Italy, and Japan -- and that wasn't even one full year ago, just about 49 weeks exactly. Poland won it by sweeping Cuba, and exactly one of those U21s, Bartosz Kwolek, has made it into their VNL team this year -- so that's how deep Poland is this cycle. Actually, that's pretty scary.)
What tier is left between U21s and full pro/MNT? We don't send teams to FIVB U23, so ... maybe the XIII Pan Am Cup (M) in August, and the annual USAV Cup friendlies vs. Brasil.

Some observations after the event from somewhat upclose. On to Chicago......where we will be the "visiting" team in our own country * Ottawa is a beautiful city that is friendly, well planned out, historic and lots to do and see. Very impressed. * Very happy that the Australian team came away with a victory. They play hard and are easy to support with the energy and fun they bring to the court. * Ben had some really nice moments and has been working really hard hard at his serve in the games and serve/pass sessions to toss that ball farther out so he is always jumping way into the court. I know that sounds logical and silly but it wasnt happening. * By the 3rd day the US guys had their Serve on and in fact we saw a number of guys mix things up with offspeeders and cut jumpers that were very effective and produced runs * As was eluded too, the team and staff really stepped up and had to make some adjustments and sacrifices as only 12 of the 14 guys were available to play. Nothing major but 2 just couldn't go. * The floor was awful for the players and it was really hard on their bodies (all the teams) - just straight concrete under that thin court. Unacceptable imo. * the FIVB music is annoying and too loud at times * Some song debut happened. the "artists" dressed and acted like they were 18-22......my guess they were much much older. * All the guys had some really strong moments and Micah's precision improved every day. He is a very intelligent player. * Coach Speraw and the staff had to a add a little energy at times. This tourney is indeed a marathon and external motivation is required it seems from time to time. ** I did find myself saying "sorry" to our neighbors quite a lot more than they other way around. (Perhaps the first time in my life I ever got stink eye wearing a USA shirt) I'll leave it at that. For the 3 matches 12 players saw action (I'm sure there is a few stats I may have added wrong but the ballpark gist is there) Shoji 11 games Anderson 10 games 40pts 50 attempts 7 aces Russell 10 games 35 pts 57 attempts 3 aces Christenson 10games 6blks Patch 8.5 games 27pts 55 attempts 3 aces Mcdonnell 7games 13pts 19 attmpts 4ces 1 blk Holt 6games 18pts 17 attempts 5 blks Smith 5games 12pts 11 attempts 2blks Jendryk 4games 10pts 13 attempts Langlois 3 games 12pts 15 attempts 1ace DeFalco 2game 7pts 10 attempts 1 block K Shoji 1 game

#2 If you have been paying attention you would know that Jaeschke hasnt played a single point in these 3 matches. There is a reason. A reason you don't know. Cool attempt to use ambiguity to imply some fake news about a situation you know nothing about. Stick to reporting Speraw's anxiety level to us. Well, just found some time to get caught up with this thread, only to find that Shhhhh is still playing the role of a basement-dwelling twit, I see. Not only was there no call for your snide input (is there ever?), but you are wrong as usual. Actually, the poster in question does know quite a bit about the situation. Now, you can go on with your megolomaniacal view that there can't POSSIBLY be someone who knows something that you do not, and sound like a complete tool,...OR you might just consider an alternate view, do everyone on this board a favor, and just shut the hell up.

(Chicago has the most polish population outside of Poland in the world) I can't wait.. I'll be there all three nights.

Just because Jaeshke didn't play this weekend means nothing. Neither did Taylor Sander and Taylor wasn't even with the team.... Granted, I think most of us know the reason for Taylor absence but implying something just because someone isn't playing is bad form and bad posting.

His 7 year old Goldfish died. Ok ? Happy Tim?
Futhermore I was defending DeFalco from the implied insult...(lol)..but clearly you didnt read that part or want to. I said there was a reason and was being respectful of the situation and the training staff.
Had it a bit in HS, through his college years, and travelled throughout Europe .....it was a beacon on light through some difficult moments. He was understandably distraught and the furthest thing from his mind was playing.
The team had a nice ceremony in the locker room.

Furthermore I was defending DeFalco from the implied insult... It's an "insult" to imply that Jaeschke, an Olympian, is a far superior player than DeFalco?

I think DeFalco might be a better hitter than Jaeschke is. Still lots of time though.

Therefore, they couldn't go (play) No "Big Fish" story here.
