Langlois scored but was just a big target of the german serve pressure. He should be thinking of moving to opposite as I couldn't see him playing that well as an OH. His mind just cracked after that heavy load of reception. The serve wasn't even that powerful.

Basically, every one of our guys was fatigued, shaky, or both, and every one of Germany's guys was explosive and razor-sharp. Their peak beats our trough. Low biorhythm day, something in the food, weird noon start time not at midnight when we're awake

Hopefully we are better tomorrow. certainly the energy level will be high Sunday for host Canada

Didn't see the match: were DeFalco and Jaeschke absent? Injured? I'm all for getting your guys experience but when you go down 2-0, maybe the dynamic isn't in the setter or OPP but in your passers?

Both were available. DeFalco finally did sub in late in G3 (for Langlois). Jaeschke didn't play. From last week's timeout snooper camera in the USA huddle, Speraw revealed that he doesn't want some positions to play all 3 days in a row. I'm sure the plan was to stick with Langlois and Russell today, and rotate guys tomorrow. That sets up Jaeschke to appear in the Australia and Canada matches. In fact, it also guarantees that Langlois and Russell will miss at least one of the next two. I don't mind that strategy for VNL. We should be using it to blood new talent ... even if we get blood all over the court If this were a do-or-die at a major, then yes, panic early and yank guys.

Langlois' serve receive at BYU wasn't that great so no surprise there. I'm really shocked he's even on the team.

Wow, what a complete and utter disaster. I would love to know what Speraw's thought process was in leaving Russell and Langlois in there to flounder the entire time against Germany. It was so demoralizing to lose in such an epic way. I mean, c'mon -- 25-13? Also, we desperately need a new libero! I've never thought Shoji was "all that," as so many do, and his performance this summer has been worse than usual.

There's something to be said about receiving serve next to the same people for an extended period of time.

[USA-Australia] Flo stream goes live, with pre-hitting warmups. Over in that other distraction, mso France 0-1 USA at HT. Green 44' on a turn-and-nutmeg near post, about 3 minutes ago. France look shocked, wandering down their tunnel

I'm a little distracted just now -- huge collision at USA's 6-top, Giroud and Miazga are both down and GUSHING BLOOD ON THEIR HEADS -- wow, this might knock Giroud out of WC'18
09-16 TT2. (wasn't even watching, sry) Just split skin, looks spectacular. But both guys are surely in protocol now.
