I don't think any nickname garners more respect than Wayne Gretzky and "The Great One." But there are some others that are pretty cool. I think my favorite has always been "The Crime Dog" Fred McGriff.

The kind of nicknames I hate are the initials (e.g., MJ, JFK, MLK, POTUS) and truncations (e.g., JLo, JMac). They lack imagination. It's as if people don't care enough to come up with a good nickname.
