Duke is running a 6-2 offense with Pacific transfer Andie Shelton setting and hitting Opp, like she did at UOP. Seyfarth also setting. Errors creeping in for Duke and BYU has closed the score to 14-15 in set 1.
BYU now up 16-15. Freshman Gneiting is a perfect 5 for 5 at MB for BYU.

BYU takes the first set 25-22. Some unforced hitting errors for Duke.
Strangely, Duke has 1 block and BYU has no blocks so far.

Duke up 12-8 in set two. TO BYU. BYU’s middles have been hitting very well. Duke’s OH’s starting to hit smarter.

Wondering about Ballard. Haddock is doing okay, but would be nice to have a bigger block out there.

BYU sweeps. McKenna Miller looked good. Phew.

Seems like Ballard is not available to play. BYU is playing with 5'10" blockers all the way around on the right.
BYU ran away with the third set 25-16 to complete the sweep of Duke. They will have a rematch tomorrow.
McKenna Miller had a fantastic match with 14 kills, only 1 error, hitting .483. Roni Jones-Perry, on the other hand, had a real struggle tonight, with 8 kills, hitting 0. Gneiting had 11 kills hitting .391 and Kennedy Eschenberg had 6 kills no errors, hitting .600, so great production from the MB's. Lacy Haddock at Opposite had 3 kills hitting .143. So Ballard is sorely missed at Opposite. Haven't heard anything about her. BYU did put out a release when Hamson was injured and out for the season.

Ballard warmed up last week, but she didn't look that good. They mentioned something about her not being ready to go during the broadcast, but didn't give any specifics, so it's anyone's guess as to whether she's just recovering more slowly than expected or tweaked something else. She is traveling with the team this week. I saw her with the other subs on the sideline.
Madi Robinson did a nice job last week in that position, but at 5'10" as well, she is basically a younger version of Lacy Haddock. She's quicker with a little bit heavier arm swing, but is not as good at blocking.
On another note, I noticed last week that Mary Lake is overhand setting this year instead of bump setting as she did the last two years. I always wondered if she could, as I'd never seen her do it before.

She has alluded to the fact that her first two years they preferred her bump setting, but I think that has changed this year.
