I think Lines is an incoming junior. Oh...my bad then. I must have been looking at Kaitlyn’s freshmen bio on the UOP website. Still a good trade off IMHO. Trinity just didn’t have it. Looking at some video of Kaitlyn Lines, she is a 6 rotation player. At least that is what she did at Pacific. She was also Pacific's leading hitting in kills per sets, this past season. So in that sense she is a plus for the Wahine over Trinity, if Kaitlyn does decide to play for the Wahine.

Hope it’s an upgrade at least Don’t need someone taking 1-2 swings and call it a season again

If RAMS does bring in another OH, that to me will signify that she intends to keep both Amber and Tiffany in the Middle when they arrive. Imo

Kaitlyn Lines to me anyway, looks like a Granato type player. But unlike Granato, Kaitlyn Lines will not have to carry the team, she will be an OH2 type player. Also, just by looking at the Outside Hitters that Robyn has been going after, they need to be able to play all 6 rotation. Otherwise, Robyn may not look at them.

If Lines does commit, that's another really great pick up for the coaching staff. The WCC is obviously a really good conference and even if they didn't have a winning record, for Lines to be Pacific's go-to says a lot about her potential. Finishing behind the likes of BYU, Pepperdine, San Diego, St. Mary's and LMU ain't too shabby. Shows this girl can put the ball away against real good competition.
Ah Mow-Santos and staff continue to flex their recruiting prowess. Will wait patiently whether or not this comes to past.

I can't believe I'm saying this but I don't want any MORE OHs to transfer to Hawaii. If you believe in the coaching staff's ability to recruit -- and it seems like many do -- then I'm looking forward to Riley Wagoner, Hanna Hallvig, and Jolie Rasmussen at the pins. Oh, also, to a lesser extent, Braelyn Akana. I don't really know much about her. Come to think of it, I don't really know much about any of the new recruits and transfers. LOL! I agree with you. It seems that the pin hitters are already set with the freshmen and transfer. I believe that getting another one might just make some of them unhappy and would be really fighting for PT. We still haven’t solved the back up setter issue. It’s possible that RAMS did not even try to contact Lines. Can’t wait to find out whose setter she’s trying to get though.

She following anyone else? LOL ... man what have things come to nowadays lol. Well, my source brought her up around a week ago about her following the Wahine Volleyball account, so I think it is at least a possibility that she is considering the Wahine (I believe Rasmussen did the same before the announcement). However, my source said she also followed another school (I think she said Auburn(?)) recently. I think my source might possibly be a friend of Lines (at least I hope so LOL), but hopefully, Lines will come to the Wahine. When my source brought her name up last week, I was confused as to why she would transfer considering she is starting, but maybe she wanted a change of venue, and maybe the possibility of competing in the NCAA tournament may interest her? Either way, she would be a great get for the Wahine, and I am surprised that some people are skeptical about taking in Lines. The possibility of Castaneda leaving opens up a scholarship, and it gives us experience at the pins. Although this group of freshmen will be good, they have yet to play NCAA volleyball, and Lines has more experience at the pins than any of our other returning hitters in Sibley or Ross. I find it funny that we always want top-notch transfers and recruits, but we start being skeptical when we finally land these players. Lines is a 6-rotation OH, WCC-First Teamer, who averaged 3.98 kps as the go-to hitter at Pacific in her sophomore year. I say that we welcome her with open arms! (Also, my apologies hwnstunner this paragraph is not specifically directed towards you).

I do hope Lines signs with Hawaii. She and Rasmussen bring two high level outsides to the Wahine starting line up with starting experience at the Division I level which would give the freshmen time to adjust.

I think some UH fans are worried about this team having “too much talent” and some of those touted freshmen might transfer out. My take is having too much talent is never a bad thing. It’s up to the players to up their game and reach that high level. If they cannot reach that level, then maybe they are not in the right place.
It’s the coaches job to bring as much high level talent as possible. It would bad coaching if the coaches balance the team with good and bad players so everybody is happy.
Bottom line....Rasmussen transferring in have already improved the team. No doubt Kaityn Lines will make this team even better.
If Lines was to become a Wahine, she will be taking Castenada’s spot on the team so she is not taking away a scholarship for a backup setter.

If Lines is reading this thread, here's the sales pitch: Great weather year round Nice beaches
Great beach VB team
7000+ attendance per match
Renovated facilities and locker rooms Transfer players thrive in Hawaii No crazy wild fires! Hawaii voted happiest state in US by WalletHub We have the best food, just not in the SSC lol

I just saw Castaneda unofficially in the transfer thread so that makes sense getting another transfer pin hitter could be a possibility.

I don’t think she should be thinking about living here yet. She should be thinking about just attending school. Lines first order of business is to find someplace whre she can enjoy volleyball and have a good education. She does not have to worry about paying rent(if she lives in the dorm) or paying property tax so those pros and cons are for her to think about down the line.
You come here, try your best to assimilate and if Hawaii is for you, then you can choose to make Hawaii your home. If there is too much negatives, then you can always go back home. That should not deter a player from coming here and enjoying Hawaii for two years.
Lines is from Arizona so she was raised in the desert. Would be wonderful experience for her to live in a tropical environment for a couple of years and enjoy the change.

Aloha
Lots has been going on and all good things I see. Big transfers prayers answered a strong team being formed. The young ones will have to work hard and have some great talent to draw from and put there sights on. I am so excited!!!
God bless the Wahine

Yes I love the arenas cream puffs but stay away from the garlic fries. What? Garlic fries are like the awesomest food at SSC, then the nachos, then beer of course.
