Spring matches don’t count towards their season record so I don’t think former players shouldn’t play with the team. It’s actually good I think for the current setter because her connection is still there.

If I recall correctly, Dave Shoji used former players in Spring matches. That is, players that just used up their eligibility.

there is supposed to be an inter-team scrimmage in Hilo—so they definitely need the bodies for that.

I recall Shoji dressing players who just used up eligibility in the fall. They dress but do not play unless tthere is an injury. I don’t think Robyn will use any outgoing senior...even to spell Skyler. What UH may need to do is maybe move one of the taller OHs into the MB spot when Skyler rotates to the back row and maybe put Janelle Gong as an OH.
Give Arden Misraje/ Angel Gaskin/Kirsten Abels a call and see if they game for one match against Texas.....then go back to beach.

Why don’t I see Norene in any of the Wahine pictures on their Hilo trip?

Why don’t I see Norene in any of the Wahine pictures on their Hilo trip? Not sure. I’m also surprised to see Krug there and dressed out. Maybe the surgery recovery time was short, or maybe she was just able to participate in the simpler tasks this past weekend.

Krug can still pepper and, like, shag balls and put them in the cart.

Why don’t I see Norene in any of the Wahine pictures on their Hilo trip? Cindy Luis said that Norene had the flu earlier in the week.

The Texas exhibition will reveal how much Kirsten Sibley has improved -- if at all.

I can't understand, why would former players play in the spring matches? What is the spring matches for? Make no sense at all..... Well they would play in the case that there is a lack of returning players that can suitably fill in all the positions, or they would be there just in case there are any injured players and to prevent an injury from possibly occurring. Right now our roster is pretty small since we will bring in around 5-6 players in the Fall. For example, with Krug coming off of surgery, I have no idea if she is cleared to practice, and they may just want her to focus on making a full recovery, so they may put in Williams for both MB positions. However, at some points, to risk potential injury and let Williams rest a little, it would be good to have a second middle (who is a former player) to play in the match. What I am trying to say is: Why do they have spring matches if they can't have a full roster. How can you eveluate the players if most of them are not on the roster for 2019?

It is a good way for players to get experience that is vastly different from playing the B team in the gym. Although these spring matches are not highly indicative of how they will perform in the Fall (with 5 incoming Freshmen), this is good experience for those who have not gotten a ton of experience starting in the actual season. Other than Iosia, none of the players have played most of the time this past season. Williams did not start games until the end of the season, and Ross/Sibley were put in sparingly at the pins. We have yet to see Rasmussen and Hanawahine play for this team, and these Spring matches will essentially force the team to play "real" competition that they will experience in the season to come.

I see Ross being utilized in the OPP. I think both Sibley and Ross are alternating between OH and OPP. If you look at around 23 seconds into the video, Sibley is hitting on the right side.
