Every thing I read or hear from Indiana’s staff is how bad IU was and how different things are now. If you look at most IU teams, they were about 16-16 overall and 6-14 in the league (minus 2017). They were hard to beat at home for many Big Ten teams. Last year’s team looked like a typical IU team. I hope this team lives up to the staff’s hype. Nothing easy about winning in the B10. Anybody know Aird’s overall record? It takes time to bring in better girls. He’s recruiting pretty well.

IU really wasn't bad last year. They swept Ohio St, which a few years ago would have been unthinkable, and they beat BLUE on their home floor and gave them a decent run in Ann Arbor. They didn't fair very well against the top B1G teams except, perhaps, the 3-2 home loss to the Illini. Most importantly against in-state rival Purdue they sustained two 3-2 losses. Moving forward they need to beat their in-state rival which will help them attract local recruits. I was so scared halfway through that 5th set in West Lafayette last year...

Hello everyone! Since I'm usually talking to myself when I discuss Indiana, I thought I'd source the VT crowd for y'all's knowledge about the transfers that Aird has brought in for the 2019 season. The Hoosiers did land a good recruit in Emily Fitzner, but she hasn't played college yet; so what about those that have: were they impact players on your team? Are you happy they are gone? Can they help IU? Thank you! From Louisville: Megan Sloan From Virginia Tech: Peyton Yelich From Creighton: Kari Zumach From LSU: Jacqui Armer I think the right side battle will be interesting. Was a little surprised that both Sloan and Zumach transferred. Sloan did well for Lville but really only played regularly her junior year although I believe “lost” that role towards end of season. Zumach came on strong the second half of Creighton's season and I thought would be a big factor for Creighton this season so her transfer was really a shock. I’m guessing she wanted to be in a “power 5” conference and specifically B1G. I think IU has great options on the right side. Not sure if Aird is a fan of the 6-2 but he has the talent to make it work with both setters and pick of RS’s. Hopefully you won’t have to talk to yourself much once the season starts.

Purdue should not have been in that predicament given the offensive capability of their lineup. In 2019, I could see IU taking their home match against the Boilers on Oct. 9. #Atkinsonbigloss

I appreciate everyone’s feedback. I didn’t know Sloan was an OPP, I thought she was an OH.
Last year for the Hoosiers was actually not THAT bad (should’ve had a season sweep of Michigan), so hopefully things are on the up and up in Bloomington.

It will be your duty to give us weekly season updates here on Indiana. Indiana will be competitive in league this season. Solid fan base is a plus.

I now follow Indiana because of you. Nice! I’ve been here repping since 2005; I’m grateful to have done SOMETHING. I’m also not envious at all of Aird. The dynamics of bringing in “better” transfers on to a new team must be difficult to orchestrate.

In the write-up for the scrimmage, the writer only talked about Edwards, Lofton, new transfer from LSU Jacqui Armer, and Beerman.
No comments from Aird, though, which is unusual for his tenure.
I am really excited for Deyshia Lofton to have an excellent senior year, and I was really surprised to hear that Beerman was at full strength and doing well.
There seems to be a backup in the middle, with four year starters Lofton and Lofton being challenged by senior transfer Armer and sophomore transfer Yelich.
I would have really liked to learn more about how Sloan and Zumach did.
*crickets*** Was anyone at the scrimmage? *** Crickets***

Indiana goes 3-1 on the weekend, beating Marshall, UT-Martin, and FIU, while losing in 3 (all two point sets) to Santa Clara, which was a significant upset in RPI, or Pablo, or Pollo Tropical, or whatever.
Freshman Haley Armstrong gets the start at L over Lebo; however it seems that passing was the team's downfall in their loss to SC. 10 aces against. Ouch.
Sloan, Zumach and Armer all saw substantial playing time, while senior 3 year starter Huybers sat the bench. That has to be tough. Lofton continues to impress and Kendall Beerman sat one match and then hit lights out against Marshall. I'm so happy for her!
Keep it up IU!
