As soon as Novara and Carlini play well, dufus is quiet. I like that. Mind you, Carlini has helped turn around two teams and led one to the finals of Champions League, but I digress.

Going 5. Conegliano gave some life to Novara with those back-to-back errors by Danesi... and then Egonu took it and ran with it. Should be exciting 5th set now that Paola is dialed in.

He’s one of those guys that takes delight in the failure of others. He wants Carlini to fail. It’s an anonymous board, but true colors comes out when no one is looking.

Hill was on fire early on. But as soon as Novara ( a.k.a Egonu) started playing better, she vanished.

And then she hits many balls out. She’s way too hot and cold for my liking. Needs to find some finesse in that arm swing. Not every ball can be crushed... even by her.

She had 11 hitting errors but still hit .290. You can take the errors when someone is that terminal offensively (and most importantly, scales well - her kills are kills against anybody, and any defense). Novara needed to find a way to get Bartsch more swings. She was very efficient and could have helped Egonu out (but maybe she wouldn't have been able to handle a higher workload, but still...) I don't know why Plak got so few chances. Hill had 19 kills and hit .368 today - all the more impressive considering how she was mostly matched up against Egonu's block at the net. I’m just gonna say it now......Imoco won’t be a good fit for Egonu. She won’t be able to play Wolosz’s tempo. Fabris is the perfect fit or hell....even Lowe can play a fast set.
Egonu lost this match for Novara today. So many hitting errors on perfectly good balls put up by both Carlini and Camera. Granted Imoco’s block defense is stellar but she definitely just ripped through every ball today. She’s still young. I really don’t get the double sub of Plak/Nizetich for Bartsch and Piccinini. Pretty hard for the starters to really gain any momentum. And it’s not like any of them are a blocking liability. Bartsch plays just about as good of defense as Nizetich does.
I’m glad Bartsch is leaving. Also Barbolini doesn’t impress me in the slightest.
I’m beyond happy for Conegliano but I was expecting a little more resistance from Novara. I mean until tonight they really just got spanked.

I'm sorry, you can't blame Egonu for losing when she scored 33 freaking points. They don't push it to 5 without her, and she's done more to carry a team than anyone I've seen in a while. Novara's problem is they have too many positions on court that don't produce (Bartsch is the ONLY one), their block-defense isn't very good, and they don't do anything on serve unless Egonu and Plak (who barely saw court today) are bombing jumpers.

They’re not a great passing team most days and their Libero is weak af. Honestly Con is better at every position save Opp and their Opps are not far behind so it shouldn’t have been a surprise at the end.

It's nice to see Hill having such a great club season. Her professional career has been stellar recently. Plus her USNT failures have not leaked into her pro seasons beginning last year with her move to Imoco. Unfortunately I think she will be on the bench for the USNT as she doesn't translate well into Karch's schemes. Still from a small school, 150 students, in Portland to this has been a wonderful journey for her and her fans.

She’s used to hitting that shoot set to the outside so I would think she will continue to be the starting outside along with Larson.
