Tall setters can run a quick offense even if they don't have the foot speed. It would mean that Minnesota would have to have stellar passing to facilitate the quick sets and a big outside hitter to clean up the rest. We will have that hitter in Taylor Landfair and now Jenna Wenaas. The passing, on the other hand, is yet to be seen. Minnesota has good passing, not great. If Hugh wants Shaffmaster to set, I trust his judgement. He hasn't been wrong about a setter. However, you can't run a decent practice without two setters, and I believe the coaching staff would prefer three. I, myself, would like to see someone compete with Shaffmaster for the spot next year. It's not so much about her height, just the ability to do it. Foot speed is a part of the equation, but so is location. Just my opinion from having watched Munciana quite a bit. However, it's obvious that Hugh's judgment is better than mine. I just wouldn't be surprised if he's reconsidering and looking for a top setter. I just don't know how many 2020's are still out there. 2021 definitely has high caliber setters still available.

One of the best 2022s I’ve seen. I know it’s just a highlights reel, but she looks solid!

I'm curious about Hugh's recruiting philosophy of late. Other than Landfair, he's stockpiling a lot of undersized pin hitters. Of course, if Shaffmaster moves to a pin, that changes things a little bit. Is he going to try to run even a faster offense than he had with SSS?

Is he going to try to run even a faster offense than he had with SSS? maybe trying to get solid 6 rotation players who can help run the majority offense through the middles and opposite? Set the undersized pins very fast?

I am really hoping Lauren Ware commits to Minnesota. I think both sports could use her. She would make an already amazing class even better. She would also give us more height. Also the basketball team could really use her.

Natalie Glenn 5'10" OH from Southlake, TX. Another undersized OH for the 2021 class: Anna Wolf 6'3" MB from River Falls, Wisconsin Emme Bullis 5'11" S/OH from Whitewater, Wisconsin Skylar Gray 5'10" OH from Maple Grove, MN Natalie Glenn 5'10" OH from Southlake, TX Wonder if one of our MB recruits would be interested in swinging to the OH position. Of course, these girls may grow an inch. Well have you seen her hit? She hits and jumps like a 6’2+ I’ve been seeing these TAV 16-black girls play for the past three years at various tournaments and they can jump! No need to worry. I just wanna know if she's really going to start at a program like Minnesota on the OH as a lefty or as an Opposite with her height. I'm not sure, especially when you see the type of recruiting Minny is doing right now.

Karch always said there's a seam or gap in the block somewhere.

One of the best 2022s I’ve seen. I know it’s just a highlights reel, but she looks solid! She needs a lot of work on her jump and attack technique.

She certainly has the framework for improvement. The first swing and a few others peppered in there are excellent technique, so it is there. But the times she approaches nearly parallel to the net are something I have never really seen before, and I'm less confident that will work at the collegiate level. Not only is she 15, but she touches 10'1" already. A couple more years and she could be a monster. Does she play 6-ro?
