OTOH, it might have just been an anomaly. That's the tough part of ranking teams. Tennessee's best win, prior to this, is still beating San Diego, who's not exactly a powerhouse this year -- AND a team to whom they also lost. True enough. Mizzou's only win over a ranked team was 3-2 over Florida.

Their best win by RPI is South Carolina (#25), but their first game of season they beat Michigan St. when they were ranked #22 and MSU ended preseason at 12-1, beat Ohio St. early in season, and if Thayer Hall is not in line up for Florida they have a great chance of knocking off Florida. .... and before you say Michigan St. and Ohio St. are having down years in B1G; Michigan St. is the only team in B1G to take Minnesota to 5 sets this year, and Ohio St. beat Penn St.. Yeah, they might be down, or other teams like Iowa and Indiana have improved enough to knock MSU and tOSU down a couple spots.

MSU and OSU are terrible (relatively speaking).

Yeah, they might be down, or other teams like Iowa and Indiana have improved enough to knock MSU and tOSU down a couple spots. MSU is also the only team to give two sets to Rutgers this year. They finished pre-season 12-1 because they didn't play anybody (like. REALLY) and were ranked #22 in the preseason because their entire graduated starting lineup made the Elite 8 the year before. Ohio St. beat Penn St. when they were shorthanded. Both teams are objectively much worse this year by any measure. Tennessee is 4-4 against Pablo Top 50 this year. 2 wins against Mizzou, one against SCAR and a split w/San Diego against 2 losses to Kentucky and a defeat to ETSU. They are probably correctly ranked around 24... with the coming match against Florida saying more about where Florida is now.

Anyhow. There are many possibilities here:
1) A terrific pick by 20 people. Bravo! 2) An anomaly and Missouri would win, at home, the majority of the time. 3) Mizzou isn't as good as ranked. 4) Tennessee is better than I think they are. (Funny. I posted this before I read vbprisoner's last post.)
Could be a combo. Could be all four. I have no idea, but I *suspect* it's mostly #3 and a little of #4, which makes #1 also true.

Thursday's result: 6. Byu over SAINT MARY'S 3-1 It looks like all this recent anti-BYU rhetoric suckered one PTW'er into picking Saint Mary's. Oops.
