So appropriate it was Shayne who served them out to the win. She had such a great match!

Husky stats (esp hitting percentage) went down in every set, and Creighton stats went up in every set. I think I'm glad they play best-of-five instead of best-of-seven.

OK, who's going to claim credit for voting for a Husky sweep? (It wasn't me.) Not me either. It is me!

Tough way to go out for Jaali. Creighton always seemed to peak during the tournament.

I was really hoping Creighton would go much farther in the tourney than this.

I called this one. I’m going to call another..... Washington with a win over Penn State. Y’all need some revenge for that beat down in 2013

Just got home. All credit to Washington. Well coached, prepared, and didn’t seem to get too far up or down emotionally.
When I said Creighton didn’t run normal offense till midway through the 2nd, I meant that they tried to make it a Winters/Kloth show prior to that. Which was not smart. Normally Creighton runs more slide, middles, and especially backsets. Cole is a good backsetter, and when she started to do it repeatedly, the Jays offense got untracked. But they were in a big hole.
Was Creighton not used to a big, physical block? Washington is physical and a good blocking team, to be sure. It’s not that Creighton’s all deer in the headlights. They’ve seen Illinois, USC, Nebraska, Kentucky, Marquette.. The 2 best blockers of those are Illinois and Washington. I think Washington’s block setup/location was outstanding. Good scouting. In the 1st set, setting was tight and passing inexplicably poor. Washington camped on the left and kept solo covering the middle. Creighton complied by continuing to go left and hitting into a block or cross court to the libero. Then, instead of diversifying the offense, Jays got tentative early in the 2nd and tried tipping or rolling everything. Finally, the passing/setting improved along with floor defense and the attack went to both sides and the back. Creighton’s block, on the other hand, seemed poorly positioned until set 3. This was one of the rare times Creighton was outcoached.
I wouldn’t say that Creighton ever solved the Husky block. The final 5-point run featured Hickman solo stuffed in middle and Kloth shut down on left. Credit to Washington, but unacceptable to give up a 5-point run at endgame at home, even after losing a critical challenge.
Two other factors should be mentioned. Creighton gave up way too many SE’s. They are used to serving aggressively, but many weren’t close and killed runs. It was a result of pressing when unable to score in system.
The 2nd factor is that the Washington libero was outstanding, and I would consider her the Husky MVP. Along with whoever called for that challenge.
Best wishes to the Huskies against Penn State. I think you will need every block in your arsenal.
Very tough way to go out for the outstanding Creighton senior class. They elevated the program. Winters and Kloth will be considered the face of the program in the way Kyle Korver and Doug McDermott are for basketball. Time will tell if Creighton can reload on the pins (Zumach is a good start), and if Booth stays.

The problem for Creighton tonight was they played a UW team that played it's absolute best match of the season. Agree, that McPherson deserves MVP. Her digs (and serving) were off the charts. Almost any of other night of 2018 I think Creighton would have come away with the win.
