I feel like I just did my cardio workout. Going to settle down and fall asleep watching this sappy Hallmark Christmas movie rerun. Congrats to Huskers. Great season Illini. Big Tamas fan.

What a pleasure to have been at Target Center tonight. I'm completely speechless. I will be shocked if the Huskers have anything left for Stanford but who can ever rule them out?!?!?! GO BIG RED!!!!

That's such nonsense. Are you saying that if they did argue the call, it would mean it was wrong? That puts us down the path to professional soccer or basketball, where acting skills are a vital part of the game. I’m saying because they didn’t protest the call, someone touched it. If they were positive they hadn’t touched it, there would have been some outward display of emotion, some argument. I don’t think Cook would have challenged it if it were not for Stivrins telling him it was touched

We will have plenty left for Stanford. Remember we had an emotional game with Penn St last year before the final game vs Florida

I have a friend who can wiggle his ears like that Illinois blocker can move her pinky. It's really freaky. But seriously, any volleyball coach worth his or her salt teaches the merits of the darting pinky. It's very sound. Did you know your pinky finger has the strength of ten ants?

It is physically impossible for the human body to move a finger in the space of a single frame of television. The call was correctly overturned. There was a touch.

These questionable video review calls by the refs require the NCAA to provide better criteria to the refs for such late challenges, because they could potentially cost a team the match. Refs need to be able to figure things out using more than just a simple, grainy video feed. The NCAA needs to step up and provide deductive reasoning training.
Oh wow, this is a perfect metaphor for the Seattle TV station that said pausing the video as the ball flies OVER the line proves it HIT the line.

Got back from the match tonight. Freaking epic. Wow....what heart shown by the Huskers to rally back from 0-2 down. Definitely not the prettiest match of the season but they clawed back to finish it.
Random thoughts:
Hames didn't have her best night but I thought she defended well and set Lexi well. Many of the sets to Foecke seemed low, and I don't think she went to Foecke/Stivrins enough. She'll need to go to them more in the finals. Sun had a good night but I'd rather have Mikaela out of the pipe than Lexi facing Fitz/Alade.
Sun made her errors, but overall she was stellar tonight. She had a bad bout late in game 1 and then a rocky start to game 2 but overall she was able to find the floor enough for the Huskers to win. Defense was very good, and passing was solid despite a couple of stretches. She can't have those lapses against Stanford. If the match finished in 3, I probably wouldn't have as positive a review on Lexi. Up and down year for her, but there's no denying she's stepped up her play big time since the rough stretch. That, along with Hames improvement and Stivrins getting utilized more has been the biggest difference IMO.
Middles just didn't get set enough, although Callie looked a little awkward on a few of her swings. She's in there to block, but when she has an open net she needs to find the floor. Stivrins will need to block much better than she did tonight. 1 block in 5 sets wont cut it. Fortunately for Nebraska, they will be facing a slower offense than Illinois so they should have a little more time to close the block.
Foecke was just a stud. So clutch at the end of game 3 and she passed extremely well. She should be utilized more IMO. She's more terminal than Lexi out of the pipe vs when Lexi is on the left facing a double block. Foecke has played outstanding volleyball in all of her final four appearances, I hope she's saved her best for last.
Maloney was a stud. Miller played some fantastic defense despite a couple bad passes and missing too many serves.
Shoutout to Quade/Poulter and their team. The Poulter/Quade connection is a thing of beauty. Quade ran out of gas at the end and you had to feel for Jordan in game 5 when her team made error after error and she couldn't get a pass late. Absolutely a joy to watch. I hope some of the younger setters can evolve into players similar to her/SSS/LHE, as all 3 were really a joy to watch collegiately and can push tempo beautifully. Quade should be a POY front runner next year. It will be interesting to see if the new setter can create massive holes in the block like Poulter did this year. Illinois likely drops down a bit next year but should still have a strong team.

There were frames before and well after the ball passed that also appeared to have the pinky moving (there were double images of that finger). That tells me the camera was not good enough - the frame rate was too slow. If I can't see clear evidence of a touch relative to a situation where I know there was no touch, I can't say there was enough evidence to overrule the call on the court.

It would've made the first two sets even worse.

Congrats to Illinois on a great season. Tamas is a great coach and they have some stud players.

What you are doing here is setting a standard that says players need to complain about every call or else it will be assumed that the call should go against them. Do you you really want to watch "bad acting night at the gym" or do you want to watch volleyball?

I hope hammer is around because this match needs a giant * There is no way that should have been overturned. Not a touch! How long did it take for Cook to ask for that challenge? Reyes prompted Cook to challenge. I honestly thought it was just a way to get a free timeout, but when I started paying attention to the monitors at the scoring desk, I was like... wait a sec.... there was actually a touch. I don't know what was shown on TV, but what I was looking at, while not HD, it wasn't overly grainy and clearly showed a touch.
