For anyone like me who doesn't have FS2 or missed the Illinois match and *does* have BTN, BTN will be showing the Illinois @ Wisconsin match condensed to 60 minutes at two different times today, 4:00 pm and 7:00 pm. Can't wait to see this since I haven't yet, especially the 5th set. Condensed to 60 minutes? The match, without commercial breaks, was 2 hours and 11 minutes. They’re cutting more than half of it.

Similar to football, it's "BTN Volleyball in 60," so, yes, they'll be cutting out all the service errors, challenges and anything else they think is boring. I wonder who gets that job.... (They don't have "BTN Soccer in 60" or wrestling, or cross country...so I guess we should be happy they're replaying volleyball rather than 10-year-old Ohio State vs. Michigan football games.)

I'm going to guess that Rettke's is a nagging injury that got inflamed at some point during the match. That is why I think we are not going to see her this weekend. She needs rest.
I have heard Arias call it an ankle injury. A foot injury is more concerning to me than an ankle injury. So many moving parts. They can be hard to suss out and are really prone to reinjury. I feel ankles are more straightforward, though it depends on the exact injury.
I hope it's not Plantar fasciitis. That takes forever to heal - see Carlini, Lauren - and several close friends of mine.

If Rettke doesn’t play this weekend you are looking at 2 losses
Bye bye big title
And bye bye top 4 seed and hosting We barely beat Northwestern without Rettke

And, if you have to say bye bye to the B1G title & top-4 seed in order to get Rettke healthy, then I'll take that trade.

If Rettke doesn’t play this weekend you are looking at 2 losses Bye bye big title And bye bye top 4 seed and hosting We barely beat Northwestern without Rettke Badgers could take two losses this weekend and the B1G title is still in their own hands. That's the one advantage of playing all the other top teams twice. I don't actually think it's clear they won't win. Not having Rettke means teams will scheme differently, but they still have 4 good attackers. While she is no Rettke, Shanahan has not looked daunted or out of place at all. If the badgers serve like they did the last set against NW, they are still a good team without Rettke. It won't be easy. They have to stay on the front foot and play low error ball - unlike the first set with all the HEs.

If Rettke doesn’t play this weekend you are looking at 2 losses Bye bye big title And bye bye top 4 seed and hosting We barely beat Northwestern without Rettke Even I am not that pessimistic. The fact that they have been able to spread around the offense since the conference play started is a big factor. In pre-conference play it was Rettke and Rettkettes. You've just insulted the other team members, as if they contribute nothing. Sweeping a team is not barely beating them. I think it took a little time to adjust to a different offensive strategy and then by set 3 they were doing well. I tell what team barely beat them - it was the 2016 Badgers in Evanston, where they went 5. This upcoming weekend is going to be tough either way; the Michigan road trip always is. Plus, to go negative again, they had some terrible stretches against Illinois with Rettke, including a set collapse like times of old. Further, Danielle Hart has developed quite a bit since the beginning of the season and is a much bigger factor than she was then. I'm not willing to say it's impossible to win without Rettke, it's just going to be way tougher. After all, Stanford has been without Plummer.

I'm not assuming Rettke is out this weekend, but if so, a team with Loberg, Haggerty, Duello, Hart, Hilley, Clark and Barnes should still be a Top 16 level team, which is certainly capable of going undefeated through the Michigan road trip. If they mentally can stay focused on playing with what they do have and not mope about what they dont have, they'll be fine. They might take a loss, but it should be close. (That is a big mental "if" though.)

And no Sheffield presser today
I’m assuming due to the injuries and not wanting to discuss them.

Presser hasn't been going up on the web until the day after, typically. I didn't see an announcement that he didn't give one.

Okay, at 22-20 in set 4 of the Illinois match, Rettke gets the kill to make it 23-20, then lifts her left foot and massages it a bit. After that it appeared she was hurting a bit. I didn't see anything unusual on that point or the preceding ones to indicate what might have happened. Reading Sheffield's body language in the presser, I don't think its minor, but we'll see, particular if he does any line up shuffling this weekend (Hart to the M1, Hilley hitting in the 2-hitter rotations).

I hope it is minor, and maybe he just want to keep it close to the sleeve so opponent have to prepare for either scenario. I think Michigan is going to give us the biggest challenge. I hope Duello returns to form. Hart has really come around. You can tell she enjoys the game and is hungry to play to her potential.
