Facebook reminds me that today is the fifth anniversary of Down Goes Texas!
That was such an awesome match. I’ll have to re-watch today.

I’m pretty ignorant to the commitment process. Is it common to pledge but keep it under-the-radar? How do players keep it from high school or club teammates? [ I believe you are only allowed 1 international trip every 4 years. That’s what I heard but not positive on this That is correct. NCAA allows 1 International trip every 4 years

That one hurt! SMH Texas hitting % was .156 because they were OOS so much, and Wisconsin hitting % .131, but they had like 25+ more attempts, and 5 more aces. The talent difference in front row was huge in favor of Texas with Webster, Bell, Ogbogu, McCage, and Eckerman. The difference in the outcome was Carlini who had 50 assists in a 4 set match as a Freshman in the National Semi-Final!

There's something to be said to be playing with nothing to lose!

Anyone know who is likely to host the Big Ten / ACC challenge next year? Never too early to start planning

You're right. Cheering for WI vs MN has not been as fulfilling. Looking forward to May or so when schedules come out to see what road trips may be in order.

Presumably there is one more away tournament in there with 2-3 teams. I wouldn't mind seeing a trip to Creighton, ISU, UNI, something like that. I'd really like them to play Pitt, but since the ACC challenge is already set up, I guess they wouldn't play an "extra" ACC team. Usually they play a high low major - like a conference champion (ex. High Point), so I would expect one of those teams to appear.

She put her hitters in such awful positions with bad timing there's little TX hitters could do.

She was part of a national championship team. And I'm guessing almost all of the Texas fans (on VolleyTalk) would take Allison over Shook these days!

When we are being crabby fans (or like Groundhog Day), let's remember this (sometimes Groundhog Day is good). Only 5 programs! Now, what are they? Stanford Nebraska Texas Penn State Wisconsin?

I think you are right. I knew Minnesota didn't make the tournament one of those years - 2014. But now I can get crabby again - all of them but UW made it to the final 4 in at least one of the years.
