I'm thinking Wohlert will be Duello's backup at RS. She will spend another year coming up to speed in that role. She doesn't have the lateral speed for MB yet in my mind.
I don't think Rettke moves from MB. Gorum looks super athletic, but I'm guessing the speed of the game will be hard for her to pick up from day 1, being a late convert to vball. I expect she redshirts to get up to speed, but who knows. Punzel listed her as an OH as well. If that isn't a mistake or premature, it rules out somebody besides Rettke and Hart in the middle.
I really hope Whalen can get past her pesky knee problems. Gregorski has been hurt much of the last year too, right? She is a bit of an x-factor.

Wisconsin the last 2 years has had the number 1 and number 3 highest hitting percentages in Wisconsin history. (#2 was 2001)
The question is how to get the opponent's hitting percentage lower.
Wisconsin hit .338 vs Illinois in regional final and lost.
Wisconsin hit .315 last year vs Stanford in tournament and lost.
1) Serving 2) floor defense 3) Blocking
Opponents Hitting Percentage
2018: 173 2017: 179 2016: 178 2015: 170 2014: 157 (Won Big Ten going 19-1)
Nebraska 2017 had Opponent hitting % of 154 (19-1 BIG)

Curious to hear everyone's thoughts on recruiting strategies, for 2021 and 2022, in particular. Aside from Robinson and Demps, who were/are emerging recruits in the 2020 class, Hart, Wohlert, and Gorum continue a trend of 'late bloomers' who were all previously committed to lower-profile programs. Even with the No Contact Until Junior Year rule, are the Badgers 'behind' in terms of snagging top '21 and '22 recruits in their early high school years or is the staff being conservative on purpose? We've heard that Sheffield isn't a huge fan of early recruiting, but the staff still pursued players like Batenhorst, Gray, and Landfair. - Is it that Wisconsin hasn't caught up to Nebraska and Texas who both have top recruits rushing to commit as freshmen or even before high school? - Are recruits concerned about playing time for the 2021 and 2022 seasons? I'm unaware of the scholarship allocation, particularly for players like, Ashburn, MacDonald, and Gregorski, but those players aside, there are 7 projected scholarship players for 2021 and 5 for 2022. I’m particularly surprised there’s not at least one pin hitter and one middle for 2021 yet. We graduate a lot of talent in the spring of ‘21.

5here are plenty of top-notch recruits available for 2021. Again, i think Sheffield and company are keeping this very tight-to-the-vest, as there are plenty of trolls trying to sabotage certain programs. Perhaps with the European trip, sheff may try to expand the recruiting to outside the US.

These summer international trips used to be a recurring feature of badger vball program once of 3 years or so. When was the last time they engaged in something like this?

How do players keep it from high school or club teammates?

I seem to recall a trip in the spring of 2012 or 2011, and yes, about 3 years prior to that. Hmm, something is wrong here. The Badgers lost 10 matches in 2017 and also only made it to the round of 16. And yet, it has a footnote with the correct link. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wisconsin_Badgers_women%27s_volleyball

That should get corrected. Yes, I think Waite did this as a regular exercise in team bonding. I remember the cycle being three years. Maybe now they have enough extra to do something after all the renovations etc (although I imagine those are different pots of money.)
