That was quite a Stanford performance. That 13-all point in the third was really the nail in the coffin. But, what can you say but "just too good." Kudos to both teams.

Hentz is like Brenda Castillo. You just don't come for her. PERIODT Here's how Karch could have answered: "Best of all-time at that position? Well, there's been some great liberos to come out of the NCAA, and you can definitely put her in that category as one of the best. She's still got another season left after this, and I think she could work on X and X, however" What were Karch's exact words? I missed this comment I remember he said Hentz is undisciplined sometimes when she doesn't have to. But I heard Dunning clearing that by saying because she covers so much court that she may appear undisciplined in the eyes of some. Sorry if my English is bad.

Stanford really took care of business today. Scary part, is that there are several things that they could do a lot better--and normally do better: serve receive, connection with Alade, to name a couple.
Morgan Hentz brought her A game. Love it. I didn't hear Karch's slight, that everyone is talking about. I've always heard him saying good things about Hentz, so I'm not sure what to make of this. I will pay more attention when I rewatch this match, assuming I can spare 45 minutes.
One thing that really made me happy was the number of sets to Fitzpatrick Fitzsimmons Fitzmorris. She is such a weapon; glad the Card is finally using her better & more. Very nice match for her: 11 kills, .375, 9 blocks, and match-high 15.5 points.
Holly Campbell came out swinging well, and blocking well too. She was only credited with 3 blocks, but she got a lot of touches, and did well to keep LHE in check. LHE was not able to dump against us, hitting negative ( -.167).
RJP had no chance tonight. Alade is quick enough to keep up with those quick sets; and combination of Alade and Fitz is impossible for a hitter like RJP, who makes a living hitting low seams and out-qucking the opposing middle.
Congrats to BYU on a truly great season. They are losing some great seniors, but they have one of the best coaches in the business. They should be a top-10 team for years to come.

No back to back aggressive setter attacks from BYU?

That's kind of a trap question if you ask me. Maybe Sunderland should have said, "one of the best..." Yes, Karch could have come up with a more diplomatic answer, but I didn't take what he said as a slight.

Don't want to stats-chat in a blowout like this, but the most interesting was hitting errors. The whole Stanford team had 7. BYU had 32! Never seen anything like this. Alade was not an effective hitter, but she had 14 blocks! I'll take that! 14 blocks is just INSANE. Stanford really showed they have 0 weaknesses Does anyone know what the tournament record for blocks in a 3 set match is? If this isn't it, it's gotta be darned close.

BYU needs to find a way to get into the PAC12. I believe playing in the WCC hurt BYU a lot. Not enough tough competition, once conference season started.

But I heard Dunning clearing that by saying because she covers so much court that she may appear undisciplined in the eyes of some. Sorry if my English is bad. You hit it on the head. There is no libero in the country (at least in the top 30-50 teams) that is given the amount of court Hentz has (hence Hentz-ville), which requires a different playing style. I really think she has the potential to completely transform the position. Not sure how this style of play would translate to the international game, but if you get an athlete like Hentz, why would you want to give your 6'+ OH in the backrow any more court to cover than is necessary. Hentz is definitely faster than any player on the national team right now and would definitely solve the tip cover problem. Karch's hesitation with Hentz definitely comes from her one "weakness" which is serve receive. His system relies on a perfect pass or all hell breaks loose, so he harps on this issue.

Oh good, the guy that destroyed Hodson's career is gonna do some commentary between matches John dunning did not give Hodson her first 4 concussions. She got 1 with him which was her 5th and the doctor said no more. not Dunning fault.

He usually makes comments about her amazing digs.

Will Hentz be good enough for the national team in 2020? Serve-receive has been her relative weakness, and she didn't pass well at times tonight. She isn’t disciplined enough yet. Also, the Olympic Games is 6 months after her last game at Stanford. She would have to leave college a semester early and possible miss out on her degree. 2024 she will be a candidate after playing under Karch, that is, if she decides to keep playing.

That was disappointing. Stanford looked REALLY good. Plummer for POY.
It's a good thing BYU still has a relatively young roster.
Stanford has another gear that they kick into when they want too. I don't think anyone in the country can keep up with them.
A young roster, but not young starters. Next year they lose RJP, both haddock sand the Ds with red hair who I do not know the name of. And the year after lake and Miller are gone, if Miller is back by then. In 2 years BYU loses every current starter besides middles.

Still kind of irked by Karch's comment about the "mayor" of Hentz-ville. I mean, would it have hurt to have said something complimentary? Does he just hate to respond positively to ideas/comments that he doesn't initiate? I haven't listened to much of his commentary about Stanford in previous games because I usually go to them live. Is he down on Hentz or what? Karch's evaluation of Hentz as a libero shows his inability to appropriately evaluate talent for the National team. Period. Hold on. Stanford is by far my favorite team and Hentz is my favorite NCAA player. But what he said about Hentz not having discipline is not wrong. The one ball the Hentz doesn’t pick up as often as other is setter dumps. She is never in base which affects her ability to do that. She also sometimes doesn’t stop her feet before the ball and that is why against BYU in September she struggled immensely. Now Stanford fans, don’t attack me please I still believe no doubt Hentz is the best NCAA libero. But I didn’t find what karch said that horribly offensive.
