Did anybody say "That's (R)uffda!'s job to spread the word"?

“Job” implies pay. They did say it was your -fault- for it not being done.
5-on-5 scrimmage just now... tip and roll shots only. It was the minority, but there were some pretty hard driven “roll” shots during the scrimmaging.
Oh... everybody has been practicing and scrimmaging, with no signs on injury that I’ve noticed.

I still think it’s too bad that a state of the art volleyball practice facility couldn’t have been built at the athlete’s village complex. Something with 3-4 courts, similar to the Florida facility. Would’ve benefitted the overall vball community much more as well. Men’s club team could use it, rec leagues at the school, adult rec leagues/tournaments. Athletes village was built for student-athletes. It’s very hard to get in there if you’re not one. There is no chance they would let men’s club or rec leagues use it. Since they only need 2 courts for practice there’s no need for them build another facility that is further away from their locker room, training room, etc.. No, my point was that those locker room, weight room, training room, coaches' offices, meeting rooms, recruiting rooms, etc. would all have been located at the facility. It's ridiculous to say that they wouldn't let the men's club team, or other rec events use it. Of course they would. The university rents out athletic events all the time, year round, for various things. The fieldhouse (indoor track) is used for all kids of different things, throughout the year, as an example. Moot discussion, as it didn't happen and won't happen. Oh well ...

When are season tickets being mailed out? Just seems like the U of MN Volleyball Program is a little "behind the 8 ball" for news etc. this season. Or maybe I am just being impatient for the season to start.

Therefore, they won’t let other students in there to use those benefits. All of these donors donated money towards a better experience to student-athletes not club athletes. Even other athletes are not allowed to get on the floors where basketball practices, so to think they would invest so much money to give it away to rec events and similar is crazy.

I'm really glad to here that everyone can play. Those two seniors in their sweats last spring was worrisome.
Its also good to know we aren't the only ones who didn't get our tickets. Maybe they should have an option to pick up your tickets. Just a thought.

Or maybe I am just being impatient for the season to start. Here's what I got back on Thursday AM 8/15: "Thanks for emailing in. We have not started mailing out season tickets as we are finishing mailing out season tickets for football at the moment. We plan to start mailing out season tickets for volleyball in a week or two. Go Gophers! Gopher Fan Relations"

Word on the open scrimmage is “Saturday, 24-Aug at 3:30pm” They seemed surprised that there was uncertainty or confusion about it. I mentioned that other than here on VT I haven’t seen anything about it.

Just received an email verifying the open scrimmage this Saturday.
The Gopher Volleyball season is right around the corner and it's time to get your first look at the 2019 team! Join us this Saturday, August 24th at 3:30pm in Maturi Pavilion for an open scrimmage. Admission is FREE and open to the public. Fans are encouraged to enter through the West Lobby or Daily Entrance beginning at 2:30pm, and should sit on the south side of the Pavilion. Parking is available in the University Ave Ramp, 4th Street Ramp, Lot 37, and the Maroon Lot. Please note that many of these lots may have limited space due to Minnesota State Fair visitors.

All in all, they looked good.
Watching them play a 5-on-5 scrimmage where... 1) right-back is setter 2) they rotate each time they hit the ball across the net (i.e. multiple rotations in a single rally) ... was interesting, as well as providing significant challenges to the players.
Favorite quote from Hugh (won’t say to whom it was directed) — “She’s 6’5” and she got down to the floor... why aren’t you there?”
