Absolutely no way huh? Since measuring an athletes "ceiling" is next to impossible, I will just say this. At the end of their respective Husker careers, Callie will compare more favorably to other Huskers that have played her position that Jazz will to others at her's. I CALLED IT! Not if she keeps registering 1.0 kps and hitting under .300. Same with Jazz if her next two years play out like last year. They both need to improve, but it's silly to look at what Callie did as a true freshman and be disappointed. Did you expect a true freshman setter and true freshman middle to have an all-world connection from the jump? It's not like Hames was connecting amazingly with everyone else all year except Callie.

I expect a little more heat on the ball, to be quite frank. She simply doesn’t hit the ball hard enough.

Plenty of players do quite well without hitting particularly hard. You also haven't given her the benefit of S&C training for a full off-season. They'll definitely be working on her strength.

I'm surprised that people think she'll be challenged for the MB2 spot. She didn't get the luxury of redshirting. Nebraska hasn't relied on true freshmen middles in recent years, but I thought Callie acquitted herself nicely. Averaging 1.33 blocks a set (hovered above 1.5 for quite a while) and having to do most of it in the Big Ten? That's impressive. She now has a full off-season to get stronger, work on technique, and develop a tighter connection with Hames. I think her ceiling is pretty high. Not to mention she gets to be mentored by Stivrins for two more years? Schwarzenbach is going to do big things in her career in Lincoln. That sounds fair and optimistic, but her attacking was a real weakness for us last season. She didn't put very much heat on the ball all season long. She didn't get the ball much, when we could have used a stronger attacker who could help bail out our pins. She only averaged 1.09 kps and hit .291 out of the middle.
Also, I would go as far as to criticize the chemistry she brings on the court. She sometimes looks like she just doesn't care.
Actually; as she gains more confidence; that look will turn to determination! I believe the chemistry is there! Go Big Red!GO HUSKERS

Sweet had an underwhelming sophomore year, but she has come up big in some of the biggest moments. I'd like to see what she can do as a passer and defender, and also what she can do on the D set. I think Sweet's ceiling is rather high with the right coaching and strength and conditioning. Sweet hits the ball nicely; but too often into the block! Placement is what she needs to work on! Her angle shots are best! GO HUSKERS

Upperclassman Hit close to .300 in December Already has one natty Great blocker Potential six rotation player We need Jazz. I’d put a lot of energy to get her on the right path, because she has the potential.

And also, I think there was excitement last year for Sweet to be an All American type opposite but it did not happen. Maybe another year with Hames will help

I think Jazz will be huge for us this year. She started really great last year then struggled midway in the season during the B1G play. I think that she was amazing in the tourney as well. Very good blocker. Gotta work on her down the line shots though. She just really need to be consistent.

Mmmm I guess it depends what role the hitter has but I don’t think Sweet was taking a big amount of OOS or pressure swings.

Crown Nebraska champs next year, traveling to Hawaii to train all year round on the beach. The huskers will be ready and its an odd year.

Once again Nebraska has to train a lot of inexperienced freshmen and are going to need a leader to step up! Short of seniors the juniors will have to fill that void! While I expect them to step up; it won't happen quickly! I'm happy two of the frosh are coming in January!! GO HUSKERS

When Callie gets good balls to hit, she has plenty of pace; just as much as Jazz.
