Will Madi win Big Ten Frosh of the week today or did minny/wisc have a freshman get a kill?

What do you guys think of Kubik so far this season? She's getting better and being more aggressive with her swings. Would like to see more improvement from her passing. She's been amazing for a frosh who plays all around.

She's been amazing for a frosh who plays all around. I am not so sure she should be playing all around, just yet. Not only is she a freshmen who needs to be acclimated into the D1 B1G Husker levels of the game, but I don't think her best performance as a defender validates the loss of production from a DS. I think she probably should have been used sparingly as a 6 rotation player, for instance: once an advantage has been established for which her performance wouldn't change the outcome of the match. but otherwise she should focus just on her main responsibilities as an L2. I do think she will mature into being a great 6 rotation player, once the game slows down and her technicals become habit & instinct.

I think she has done an outstanding job as a freshmen. Can she maintain her form for the rest of the season I wonder? That would be interesting to see. hopefully she is getting better at matching the expectation as it relates to her form. She is not there yet in reception and passing.

I'm sure Cook is keeping track of it though. They set her intentionally a lot during weaker opponents--just to get her practice/reps and it's working I think. Whenver we play stronger opponents, you seen Sun (and lately Sweet) getting a lot more swings. It seems to be working as she's slowly improving her hitting percentage.
Her serve-receive is not Nebraska level yet, but like everything, it's getting better as the season progresses. (And I still think she's probably better than Densberger so we have what we have and they have to find a way to win)

If she played like this last season, we win the national championship going away.
Very proud of her for stepping up her game.

Who on their current roster would you be comfortable playing back row for her and being a primary passer for three rotations? Densberger? It's too bad Gable is injured I think she could've contributed this season.

With Chen, and Gable both recovering from injuries it does limit Nebraska's options for the back row. Anyone know Chen's progress?

It's too bad Gable is injured I think she could've contributed this season. I think head to head, Densberger beats both Sun & Kubic in back court defense, serve receive & passing. I think too many observe an error and then relate to that more than all the positives observed but not paid attention to. I think her maturity and having played in many games over multiple season enables her more than two players trying to catch up to the aspects and speed of this level of play and do so while correcting bad to non existing technical habits. Also in Serving, there isn't a comparison, Densberger's serve is unique, viscous and takes teams by surprise, and she is more consistent. It is why she was a serving specialist for multiple seasons. I thought Syd Townsend was one of the best RB DS players we had seen and highly underrated, but even she shanked a serve now and then. It is high level of Volleyball, and perfection isn't a realistic measuring stick.

I think you will see Haley inserted if Lexi or Madi are having a rough time in the back court. The problem with inserting Haley is that you lose the threat of a back-row attack on certain rotations, and I think right now the Huskers need all the offensive threats they can muster. Once Nicklin is able to get the Middles established consistently, I think we'll see more of Haley.
