I watched that Utah match. Even without TVW, they still played tough. I think they'll do OK in the BW. Teams may take CP lightly and they will surprise them. 2nd place is not out of the question. Both CAL POLY returners junior Madilyn Mercer, MB & junior Maia Dvoracek, OH will be tested more and more as the season progresses. Mercer, selected on the all Utah Tourney team, will be the "go-to" player when a big point is needed. Dvoracek, with her devastating serve, and left-handed attack, will also be getting more involved. Maia may be coming out of left field,...she hardly played as a freshman/sophomore, but, is getting the opportunity now. And, is making the most of IT! 20 kills against the utes.

Is Torrey not playing at all?

Is Torrey not playing at all? That's a very good question. She traveled with the team to SLC. Stayed on the bench in her warm-ups the entire time during the three matches. Obviously,...offering her teammates all the encouragement possible. CAL POLY's next three matches will be at home. Will she come in to serve and play the back row? Will she come in as a back row attacker? (Something CAL POLY lacks right now.) Or,... will she remain day to day until coach Walters decides it is time to ask for a medical RS?

The first one was, I think, the week before the first 2018 NCAA tournament match during one of their practices. One of her teammates bumped into her head, I think. Hence, their quick exit from the tournament. If another concussion happened since then, I don't remember reading about it anywhere.

The senior 6'2 OH from Henderson, NV., out most of last year, is starting to get plenty of playing time in her senior year.

Will CAL POLY remain at #33 when the polls come out on Monday?
Yes,...they won all three matches. But, were those wins against teams that are strong enough to keep POLY up in the polls?
What other ranked teams did during Week #2 will also come into play.

What other ranked teams did during Week #2 will also come into play. The polls can be a strange animal. And, even though winning matches may maintain team morale and keep one's W/L record high,...at least on paper. It takes those "quality" wins to impress the pollsters.

Jake, are you that guy who was playing with a defender with a wicked topspin serve named Chic or Chicory about three years ago at State Beach in a CBVA tournament?
