Joy should be fired This is unacceptable I really feel sad for these seniors, they deserve better It was comical to watch, if it wasnt so sad. The program needs an intervention from the ad or the husband, but wonder if either has the balls to rock the boat. Enough already If Joy should be fired today should Hernandez be the interim head coach to right the ship or is she now considered part of the mess? Unfortunately Joy will point to all the injuries and not her coaching as to why Long Beach state didn't reach a dozen wins.
A good coach should be able to take other coaches players and turn them into winners. Robyn Ah Mow did that.Sam Crosson did that. Caroline Walters is doing that. These players on LB's team are essentially her players. Why she cannot win with them indicates that maybe she is not cut out for the job.

Which can be a "double-edge" sword. Their first five matches against the lower half teams in the conference. The sixth probably one of the biggest,...will be at home. Saying it is a "double-edge" sword because of the injury list. With the doubtful return from last season of Torrey Van Winden, player of the conference last year, POLY can't really afford to see anyone else go down due to an injury. However, last week Jamie Stivers (knee I believe) went down. Prognosis unknown! Jessica McRoskey is back after missing two matches due to some kind of injury (?)

Not aware of the reason,...but, Torrey Van Winden was not on the bench at either road matches this past weekend, as was usual for the CAL POLY All-American.

Ah Mow took other coaches players to the worst two seasons in school history. It's harder than it looks.
Crosson was dealt a winning hand when he came in, imho.
Even John Cook struggled for a little bit when he first took over.

To RAMS credit though she did produce two winning seasons and still made it to the dance in both squads that were barely her recruits.

Could be shes not traveling due to budgetary constraints. Maybe she had more important things to do? Maybe those better things are working with a therapist to get cleared to play again.

John Cook won the national title in his first year at Nebraska.

If, Jamie Stivers has gone down for the season it's going to hurt big time. Both Nikki Jackson & Nicole Cavote will need to step it up just to keep CAL POLY a little more competitive. During last Sat.'s match televised on ESPN, the tv announcer confirmed that CAL POLY's Jamie Stivers injured her ACL during the match with CSU a week earlier. That has facilitated Jessica McRoskey and Nicole Cavote stepping up. Maia Dvoracek has also been inserted into the position vacated by the injured Torrey Van Winden.

Staticb.....I know is a hard job. You tried to make your point that Ah Mow and Cook struggle early yet both of those coaches took their teams full of other people's players and made it to the post season.
Joy is not even improving the team IMHO. Her decision making is suspect at times(keeping Kash Williams in to play backrow when she is not a very good backrow player). I don't think LBSU is getting the same level of talent as in the past so her recruiting is not up to par either.
16-13 last season and they already have 11 losses so far.

Maybe she had more important things to do? Maybe those better things are working with a therapist to get cleared to play again. I doubt we'll see Torrey playing indoor ever again. The hope is that she can play beach at some point. She's had five concussions and still feels the effects. One more, and she may never play the game again in any capacity, if she comes back at all. Sad, she's really talented.

I was reading in the Hawaii chat about Jolie being injured and it reminded me of Torrey Van Winden being out. So I was reading up her story on concussions to catch myself up and learned how it wasn't just this last bout but an ongoing thing, and immediately got so emotional. Seriously what a hard-fought journey just to play the sport she loves. Seriously hoping and praying that she gets better, heals up and plays again because watching her at the SSC, she's a phenomenal player and person I'm sure. Bw just not the same without her !
