The Moon and Stars and the alignment of the Planets may all play a part in the upcoming November matches.
I refer to UCSB on Friday and CAL POLY on Sunday both playing the home team UHawai'i.
Both matches will be crucial in the race for Big West Championship.
Huge home court advantage for the wahine,...record proves they have been close to unbeatable when playing in their own "digs".

I still think Cal Poly will beat Hawaii and win the Big West. I'll be pleasantly surprised if Hawaii comes out on top on Sunday.

A win tonite by UHawai'i and again on Sunday v. CAL POLY will even up the standings,...all three teams having -2 losses. CAL POLY fans should be rooting for UH tonite,...IMO!!!

Is Torrey Van Winden back in the line-up? Really don't think so. Just thought it was interesting to see her back in uniform and still very much involved with the team. It makes for much more optimism.

Tvw isnt playing again this year Just hoping CAL POLY could suit her up for one match,... ...UCSB on Sat. Should be over 3,000 at Mott and plenty of excitement. This is a very important match, if all three BWC teams get in the tournament.

It wasn't a packed House,...but, all 2700 fans certainly got their money's worth. CAL POLY once again came out fast and kept the "pedal to the medal" sweeping their UCSB rivals 13, 18 & 19. www.gopoly.com/sports/wvball/2019-20/releases/201911101ilont Ruddin was not even a factor! Maia Dvoracek is the Big West Conference Player of the Year.

Not that Cal Poly isn't very good at home, they definitely are. But UCSB on Saturday played like they were there in body only. Maybe a let down after expending all of Ruddins in Hawai'i a week earlier. She had her career match against Hawai'i, with 80 swings and hitting .275 for 27 kills. She took almost half of the Gaucho's total swings. She had 14 digs and three blocks, played all of five sets. Hawai'i served her every chance, so she also had most of their serve receive and passing duty. After three sets she was past the mid-fifties in swings. After that her offensive contribution went way down.
UCSB clearly threw caution to the wind with Ruddins against Hawai'i, probably hoping if they had to attach her arm with rubber bands and duct tape the following week, that they could rely on the rest of the team to carry them on Saturday. That kind of coaching is what Hawai'i has become used to seeing out of the Big West. So, Cal Poly reaps the benefit the week after. As I was watching the CP-UCSB match, I got the feeling UCSB might have been better off to not start Ruddins. She clearly wasn't herself, and the rest of their team is conditioned to rely on her when she plays. If they know she isn't available, they've shown themselves to be better prepared to play the kind of game they need to.

CAL POLY despite the loss at Goleta, the better team.
