Time Zones definitely matter.
When CAL POLY gets around to finalizing their schedule, most include the TZ for each start of match time.

Recruit Jordyn Amoy, setter, 5'11, freshman-to-be at CAL POLY (officially on the 2019 Roster) talks about herself and the reasons she chose this university to pursue her education in aerospace engineering/play college VB. She will have to pass differential equations.

Like to address these questions to volleyjeep and anyone else that lives in the SLO community and follows CAL POLY WVB.
Have you been to any of the recent practices since coach Walters became HC? Do you have any personal contact with any player(s) on the VB team?
What comments on their progress/confidence for the upcoming season from a season ago?
Are you a POLY grad?

CAL POLY is still the team to beat, IMO. Regardless, of the voting numbers,...2-1 in favor of UH. Of course, that being said,...Torrey Van Winden needs to be back in the lineup. The lady who replaces Katherine Brouker will also make a big difference,...Brouker could "dig" shots with the best. Who starts as the new libero may be a game time decision...August 30th.

The ground breaking for the new $3 mil Beach Volleyball facility at CAL POLY could have some significant ripple effects.
POLY's BVB team will now be able to stay on campus to practice/play matches. Coach Rogers explaining this will save valuable time and create more fan support for the program. That support will overflow for indoor,...without a doubt.
Recruiting for indoor VB will get a shot in the arm. So many indoor players enjoy playing both and may have that opportunity at CAL POLY.

interesting location - that seems like such a tough space to fit in 5 volleyball courts - wonder how they will set up areas/stands for viewing in that space plus fitting in 5 VB courts seems tough,
although having matches at Pismo Beach still seems better
it might actually have more wind than Pismo Beach
won't happen, but would be great if they could build an elevated viewing patio area that could be used for the swimming/VB/Tennis at once, there can't be a D1 facility in the US that has 4 D1 sports facilities in that small of a footprint

You make some interesting observations.
IMO,...a fifth court is really not necessary and tiering the seating area to accommodate more spectators would be a much more logical approach.
Having four matches playing simultaneously seems normal. Yes,... I could e wrong.
But,...should this program begin to catch on,...seating 250 fans is not enough and it will probably be a standing room only facility.
PS. We need to remember this is a privately funded facility.

4 courts makes no sense for matches
3 or 5.
I like that the facility might seem a little 'crammed in', they can make it like an arena in that footprint - just depends on the quality of the seating
what's amazing is they raised $2.6 million - that's just huge for a niche D1 sport
they had to have had 1-2 big time donations to do that
they have a great southwest facing slope in that spot that is ideal for setting up stands/seating for a main court.

The courts are set up like tandem parking stalls,...two & two. So, having four will serve the same purpose as having three.
The seating will be tiered along one side of the facility and built into the existing slope of the site.
By far, IMO, the coolest feature of the design is a new expanded metal facade,...applied to the face of MOTT.

Four courts make no sense. You finish 4 matches and then everyone is waiting around for the final match. I do not think their is a program in the country that runs that configuration.

A lot of schools only have 4 courts. They use three for matches (playing flights 5, 4, 3 first and then flight 1, 2). They use the forth for a warm-up court. Is there room for 5 courts?
