Tulsa wins in 5!
I don't agree with the sentiment that Pepperdine should have been dominating. Tulsa has always been a good defensive team, but they lacked offense. The result may be surprising and I need to see the statline, but I have a hunch that one of their Turkish international recruits paid off.

Or was it Mariah Brim? 6’6 RS-Fr.

Santa Clara takes set one 25-14 over Florida International. Wonder why it was scheduled like this as FIU is playing actual back-to-back matches after losing to Indiana in four then going right back on the court to face Santa Clara.
Based off the stats looks like Light and Shaffer are both hitting and setter

It was more the expectation I had that Pepperdine was a vastly improved team this year and should be playing at a high level. It will be interesting to see if they live up to my own expectations for them. Saint Mary’s is about to be swept by Utah. They are feeling the loss of their three graduated 4–year starting hitters and are running a 5-1 with Alexsa Parker. BYU had a pretty easy sweep of Boise State, running a 5-1 with freshman Whitney Bower, starting McKenna Miller and Taylen Ballard at OH, and Grimmer at Opp.

Based off the stats looks like Light and Shaffer are both hitting and setter Santa Clara is also scheduled to play their second match immediately following this. Poor tournament scheduling for sure. Edit: It also appears that the score is reversed in set 2. According to the play by play, SCU is leading 12-10. Michelle Shaeffer was the top hitter for the team last season and made the all-freshman team. I’m not sure why she isn’t getting set today (2 attacks so far) but they definitely appear to be running a 6-2 with Light hitting and setting. They don’t seem to be using any subs. Only 7 players in the match so far.

Heard Pepperdine running a 6-2 with frosh setter and transfer setter, they need some time to adjust from running a 5-1 with the returners.

Haha. So many fantasy players living and dying finding out if their setter is actually in a 6-2.
Santa Clara up 2-0 over FIU, hitting .373 for the match to FIU hovering around zero. That’s a welcome sight for the Broncos. They lead 10-6 in the third, looking for a sweep to start the new season with new coaching staff.

Pacific won the first set 26-24 over SJSU. Lead the second set 16-12. Pacific running a 6-2 with their (healthy) returning setters. Middles Kaminsky and Sherman look to be having a field day so far with 11 kills, 1 error between them. Pacific is hitting .440 for the match.

Santa Clara put their first W on the board with a sweep of FIU -14, -20, -12? I think the stats are stuck. SCU hit .396 for the match. OH’s Kantor and Sangiacomo had 13 and 12 kills to lead.
Pacific up 2-0 now 26-24, 25-12 over SJSU.

LMU and Stamford are tied 1-1 and 6-6 in the third set. Hmmmm. I see Tess Reid blocking, c4ndlelight , so assume they are running a 5-1 with her.

Samford has been a solid team for years, but LMU should not be losing this match.
Samford stole someone's spot last year when they beat ETSU twice, winning the conference tournament. ETSU was an at-large.
