So they used to throw the junior players (you know, the ones funding the national program) a bone and have these CNT teams play their exhibition matches at the USAV GJNCs. Guess they can't even do that anymore...

1/3 of this team play for a university in Utah, +Heather Olmstead is their coach. Your point is? ? You think Olmstead chose the team? If so, Mary Lake and Madi Robinson would be on there. Or maybe she wants to train the Utah girls so they will be better competition for BYU 😉😉?

Guess they can't even do that anymore... Nobody would show up to the exhibition matches - club coaches don't want their players staying up later than necessary when there are medals on the line. Also it's a much more unique experience getting to train in the same gym at the same time as the nationals teams (men and women). Rather than just being some rag tag group at nationals.

Coaches have their own kids trying out and they are holding a clip board. Lol but I’m pretty sure at this level it doesn’t matter if your coach is there if you have a good tryout. To me all of the teams choosen look legit in their positions for who was there. Elliot’s team a few years ago was stacked with Texas players but don’t tell me that those girls didn’t deserve to be there with their talent. I felt like this year some of the positions were thin with talent. So it gave some players the opportunity to shine. Most of the players on the white courts got distributed to the top Italy team into the Japan team. In prior years if you watch the first red court those are usually the other players that will make teams. Which is how it is happening this year. Some of the players on the Japan team were alternates. If you follow some players posted on their social media they made the team but we’re not able to travel on those dates. Some may have declined because they will still be on the JNT. (I’m assuming this is true for Eggleston and Peterson- not sure but hoping!) Some one asked earlier if a player can do both and they can. So far I know of two players that are on rosters and will most likely be playing on the JNT. It would be interesting to see comments below on who they feel are better players (that were there)and didn’t get on rosters because their coach wasn’t there.

I would think that, when a player is chosen, they would be less likely to turn down the opportunity because their coach will be there.

I just think it’s strange to insinuate the coach from BYU would choose players from Utah over her own players.

(Maybe that’s why we didn’t medal 😂). Now that 18s aren’t there it was a great opportunity to watch high level players, even though the athletes aren’t playing together long.

To be honest, the biggest driver of this is that the coaches for these trips actually have their players participate. If all of the Top 15 teams were sending their best to tryouts (and none of them had scheduling conflicts), it would be suspicious - but they aren't.
