What's your point? Ad hominem stories do not equate to a trend. Not to mention, I am guessing that was quite a while ago, so hold very little relevance. College Admissions can be weird. I got into USC but LMU was giving me a very hard time, requesting senior grades and extra information when I already thought I was well qualified. I am, without a doubt, the last person on this forum to whom you need to make that point.

Were the petitions successful? Yes both were successful Being a “legacy” student should never be a thing or consideration given for a public school like UCLA and Cal. The transitive properties of whatever a sibling did or did not do because they share the same DNA should have no bearing on admissions. Private schools like Harvard can do the legacy thing, but they’re private and do what they want.

Private schools like Harvard can do the legacy thing, but they’re private and do what they want. I think the UC has publicly disavowed any type of legacy admissions (it was always a stated policy that legacy status was not a factor, but obviously a reconsideration can consider a variety of factors and not be attributed to legacy status). UC announces additional measures to bolster admissions process following completion of second self-initiated systemwide audit www.universityofcalifornia.edu/current-issues/admissions

I was provisionally accepted at BYU for summer school. If I did well, they said I could be a “regular” student.
Funny story, I saw an ad in the schools newspaper just before summer school ended about tryouts for the volleyball team. The rest is history. Well, my history.

Stanford and Duke wanted me........no go on Cal or UCLA So? I worked with this woman one time who broke up with her boyfriend after he proposed because "she wasn't ready to get married". And then within a year she was married to someone else. As she told me, "I guess I just wasn't ready to get married *to* *him*."

Lori Loughlin will serve just TWO MONTHS in prison, while husband Mossimo will do five after they take lenient plea deal in college admissions scandal and avoid 40 year term Lori Loughlin and her husband Mossimo Giannulli have taken a generous plea deal which will see them serve just two and five months respectively in prison for taking part in a college bribery scheme to get their daughters into school. The pair had been facing 40 years behind bars each for paying Rick Singer, the scheme mastermind, $500,000 to pass their daughters off to officials at USC as rowing stars when neither had ever played the sport. www.dailymail.co.uk/news/article-8344189/Lori-Loughlin-Mossimo-Giannulli-plead-GUILTY-college-admissions-scandal.htmlWow!!! True tabloid fashion. Kind of fun to see that Massimo signature again.

Lori Loughlin has very good penmanship.
They will write a book. Probably start it while in prison. I called it.

Pretty boy Mossimo is not going to survive a week in prison, better hang on to your soap bar! I don't think it's that kind of prison. The kind he's going to has an outdoor patio overlooking the breathtaking foothills of California, plus a lovely breakfast tray every morning.

And when they are letting rapists and murderers out of jail because of COVID-19 infections, it's hard to justify locking someone up who did not commit a violent crime.

Pretty boy Mossimo is not going to survive a week in prison, better hang on to your soap bar! You watch too many movies. He'll be going to a min security facility with a bunch of tax cheats and inside traders. And he'll be out after 60-90 days, if that. I'm glad this sordid little affair is over, just so I won't have read any more about people losing their sh**t over two C List celebrities.

Best post of the entire thread; worked in a jail for 3/4 of a year: had to clean 'em up! Sexual assault - so hilarious! Yeah. As a culture we've mostly excised (or at least suppressed) rape jokes -- except in the context of prisons. In that context, for some reason, people feel free to laugh about sexual assault.
