I am guessing this is the former USC player? bleacherreport.com/articles/2832625-tmz-kings-hc-luke-walton-sued-for-sexual-assault-by-reporter-kelli-tennantFormer L.A. sports reporter Kelli Tennant has filed a lawsuit against Sacramento Kings head coach Luke Walton in which she says he sexually assaulted her in May 2017, according to TMZ Sports.
According to the lawsuit, Tennant said Walton forced himself onto her in his hotel room. She said he invited her up to discuss potentially writing the foreword of a book she was working on.
According to the legal documents, Tennant said Walton pinned her down to the bed, kissed and groped her despite her screaming to stop. She said he let her up but forced himself against her again as she walked toward the door before finally allowing her to leave the room
Walton spent the past three seasons as head coach of the Los Angeles Lakers before mutually parting ways with the team following a disappointing 2018-19 season. A few days later, he was officially hired as head coach of the Kings.
Tennant covered the Lakers as well as the Los Angeles Dodgers as a reporter for Spectrum SportsNet LA. She currently hosts a podcast called Ceremony Wellness in which she says she hopes to help people "heal physically and emotionally.".

Even as a guy, if some dude invited me up to his room to talk business I'd decline.

Not that it's a comment on the accusation or anything, but one article I read called Tennant "a star volleyball player for USC". Is that really so? I know she had to leave the sport early (after sophomore year) due to her fibromyalgia. Was she a "star" before then? I guess she was on the conference All-Freshman team.
I mainly know her as a PAC12 Network reporter.
Interesting that she was a PAC-10 middle blocker and so was Luke Walton's wife, Bre Ladd.

I'd say something like above average, pretty good, or solid.

I talked to her once or twice in her PAC-12 Network days. She did a long interview posted on the Web about overcoming fibromyalgia symptoms “without drugs” (i.e., with a lot of “alternative medicine”-based supplements to battle syndromes like “leaky gut” that are not recognized by medical research). If all the things she says in there about “partying”, prescribed drug-induced hallucinations, toxic relationships, etc, long before the alleged assault are the case, she might not be a very credible witness... or maybe she has straightened out her life so much with all the work on herself she describes that she would be a credible witness.

So we’ve already blamed Tennant for putting herself in that situation of going to his hotel room and questioned whether she may have made the whole thing up due to her mental instability. Maybe this can serve as a short illustration why most rape victims don’t come forward.

Jesus, the comments under the Bleacher Report article are worse than people talking about her work on the AVP amazon broadcast.
Terrible situation, but why sue instead of going to the authorities? What is the statute of limitations for reporting this in California?

What is the statute of limitations for reporting this in California? Probably because the burden of proof is lower. She isn't alleging rape, and it is well past the actual date of the incident, so there is likely very little, if any, physical evidence.

Relax buddy, I wasn't questioning her actions of not coming forward sooner - she decided to sue so I am trying to understand why do that instead of going to the authorities?

So with no evidence, and potentially just a video of her coming and leaving his room, she is hoping for public exposure and possibly a settlement?
