It's CRAZY!!!!! Wonder why this committee is not only looking at players who made the tournament. I mean look at all the teams that made the tournament and lost first round, surely any top individual would not have let that happen so anyone who lost first round is out. Honestly, if you did not make it to Kean for the finals you should not be in the conversation either, so gotta take all those players out. Any great individual player would have carried his team to the finals if they made it this far, and any top tier positional player would have won the championship and not let the team down by losing. Thus, the only deserving players of these rewards are the New Paltz starters. Preposterous that that they are currently 0-2. My comment relates to club ball, but the logic is the same. When my son played 18U, he was on one of the top rated teams going into nationals. During the season he averaged 8 kills per set, at nationals the average increased to 10. But, his team failed to make it out of their poll the first day. Your logic of awarding excellence is used when nationals make their top played selection, only the teams who make the gold bracket final day name players for the award. Therefore, dominate players like my son are overlooked. I don't agree that one player can carry a team. Having TJ DeFalco on your team does not guarantee success if the other 5 suck. Volleyball is a team sport and it takes a team to be successful in terms of winning championships at any level. My post was highly sarcastic to depict how team based success should not determine who receives individual rewards.

My son was on one of the best teams in the country and my son is a dominate player who averaged 10 kills per set.
and
My son's team couldn't advance past their Day 1 pool and my son's other 5 teammates sucked.
Therefore,
My son should of gotten All-Tournament team award.
Ahhh, classic youth sports parents combining with the participation trophy parent generation in need of constant praise and accolades. Gotta love it!

The underlying issue here is that you "know" how many kills your son averaged in 18U club ball...you must be kidding! This, my friends, is what is wrong with youth sports!

Not sure why you thought it necessary to make your snide comment. First, the team provided stat sheets after each tournament, therefore you would be incorrect thinking that I had a spreadsheet to track kills, errors, and attempts. Second, who cares if a parent knows his child's stats? Unless you are one of those parents where it's more important to play the game rather than win. Personally, I couldn't care less about MVP, All Star, All State, All Conference, All Tournament, or any other accolade; the only honor that counts is champion.

Pure speculation but you have to think the job belongs to Wexter if he wants it. Alum with super successful playing career when Carthage was at their peak and now great experience during years on Loyola bench.

He does have a couple of daughters and club is expensive. If they are letting them play club and go to camp for free, that could equal his Carthage salary right there
