If I could have gone to today's UH as a kid, I would have thought I'd died and gone to heaven. But, I wasn't born with the spoon of privilege in my mouth.

I’ve been to the Cal Poly campus many many times because I have a house in SLO and I gotta tell you, Cal Poly has a lot of old buildings, too. I’m also not a fan of the new ones either. The campus layout is blah and the lack of a central open area bothers me. Though the town is nice if you’re a parent or a senior citizen, it has to be absolutely boring for college-age peeps. But the views of the hills and the weather are great, but you can’t beat the views from the UH campus. I agree with your points on the SLO campus. There isn't a whole lot going on there beside school itself, they do have the occasional concerts on campus but other than that if you enjoy the country version of Cali then that school/campus is right up your alley (not you, but in general). Great place to own property especially if you rent it out to students.
If I were focusing on education I would certainly attend CP SLO or even CP Pomona especially if I were looking into the STEM field but seeing that these students want to maximize their athletic careers with their education why not go to a school that has had success at their chosen sport. Choice of school for education is a different topic on its own. UH's Russo is a Physics & Math major which is surprising (time devoted to athletics and studying) not that UH has a bad physics program or anything but she probably could have attended a Uni. like Princeton since she's from NJ.
Also is Kikiriki really a parent of a CP player? Just asking in general, because this is amusing to me if that's really the case.

What do you all think about Dreeuws coming out in Gulf Shores and an indoor player replacing her?

What do you all think about Dreeuws coming out in Gulf Shores and an indoor player replacing her? It was the right decision considering the circumstances surrounding Scoles’s injury and the uncertainty that she would be available to play in the NCAA’s . Dreeuws was a better candidate than Iosia to play at a higher flight should Scoles be unavailable. If Scoles did not get injured in the Big West tourney, Dreeuws and Russo would have stayed together at the 5. That said, Dreeuws had opportunities all season and didn’t make the most of them.

I find it odd that she left the program without committing to another school. She was a walk on. Just noticed this. Yes, I knew she was a walk-on but other players like Misraje, Forbes, and Stevens let everyone know where they’re headed next. Paige leaves and she hasn’t even decided on where she’s headed next(reading her comments). Are you stating this as a reason for Paige leaving or that she would walk-on to another program? That she left the team for not being awarded a scholarship for her past efforts? I’m not sure how commitments and roster spots work as far as non scholarship players go? But someone did post a story about a player getting invited to walk-on and guaranteed a spot but decided to go out of state instead. Looking at Paige’s social media and past posts it looks like she committed to UH, maybe they promised her a scholarship after walking-on, and they went back on their word. IDK, I’m speculating, If Paige took a gamble on walking-on the team hoping for a scholarship later it may have backfired. *shrug* Who knows? Maybe volleyrate will tell us know once they get their exit interview.

LOL, why are Cal Poly fans coming into this thread to spew hate on how bad this Hawaii team was, and how this program is going in the wrong direction? Talking about how bad our team was does not make your own team look better. Also, I have no idea what you would define as a "junior" beating, but two of the wins were close 3-2 victories for Poly that were literally decided by a couple points on one flight. I thought Cal Poly was going to be a surprise team in the NCAA Tournament that could challenge for the title (I stated this in an earlier thread as well), but they simply did not come to play, and they lost both of their matches 3-0 to FSU and Hawaii. It's unfortunate that TVW was not able to compete because she would have made Cal Poly stronger, but Jones did a nice job filling in for her. With TVW returning, I think Cal Poly has a solid chance of repeating as the Big West champions, but if they were to lose to Hawaii, according to you folks, it would really suck considering how bad of a team Hawaii team is right?
We lose four key contributors in Maglio, Homayun, Huddleston, Dreeuws, and we will have 5 incoming players (and possibly more), so we aren't in a terrible position, as we will have 7 returners who competed in the NCAA Tournament. Cal Poly loses Jones, Wright, and Manley, so they are poised to be in a better position, and the rest comes down to recruiting.
I know you guys are passionate about your team, so you guys support your team, but do not put Hawaii down just because of this... I know it must have sucked to get eliminated by Hawaii in the NCAA Tournament, but Hawaii simply stepped up, and Cal Poly didn't.

I mean if she walked onto the team, she has the choice to walk-on to another school, or maybe another school will choose to offer her a scholarship. I think the reason why Misraje, Forbes, and Stevens indicated where they are heading next is because they made the decision to leave the team earlier. Forbes and Misraje left the team during the beach season, and according to what newbeach said, I'm assuming that Stevens knew she was going to transfer mid-season as well. Banz is another player who is leaving the program, but she has not stated where she is heading next, and I think her decision to leave was probably around the same time that Dreeuws decided to leave.

Dreeuws is from San Marcos, CA, which is adjacent to Escondido, CA -- or as I like to call "the place where they have Wild Animal Park." (Now, it's called "San Diego Zoo Safari Park.") So, basically, San Diego/Encinitas/Carlsbad area. I suppose she could play right away for one of the lesser Big West schools like CSUN, CSU Bakersfield, Sac State, or UC Davis.

Would she be guaranteed to be on one of the flights at Utah? Is that what sealed the deal? I don't think she would've had a chance at UH. Utah is awful, she’ll definitely be on the court for the Two Utes (My Cousin Vinny is an underrated classic).

I saw My Cousin Vinny back in the 1990s on VHS cassette (rental from an actual video store) but I had forgotten about the "two utes." When I watched the scene again, I thought "two yutes" was short for "two of youse," the way they talk in Brooklyn.

My Cousin Vinny is one of those movies that I always watch whenever it’s shown on t.v. Others are The Matrix, Tombstone, and A Few Good Men to name a few.

Hawaii will continue to have problems till the cancer is cut. Beautiful island but the school is old & the coaches are not really coaches. You can tell they have no clue on pairings when they take a senior who’s never been in the line up and put her in the one spot with Maglio. First clue people they don’t know the first thing about pairings. Sorry I don’t have her name she was the Hawaiian who never played till her senior year. Waiting for Dreeuws and others to announce where they are going. My guess is one or two more will end up at a top 10 school. I would take this disgruntled family’s members post with a grain of salt. No underclassman under 5’4 will get playing time at a program like UH unless they are freaking Katie Spieler. No offense but this player transfering out is NO Spieler. By the way her name is Hi’ilawe Huddleston and she had a fantastic senior year, she could have transferred to a lesser program and played a lot more earlier in her career but she chose to show humility and patience and was a BIG reason why UH finished in the final four again.
