A little bit of trouble at the end.
USA up 20-19. Australia comes back and gets the score to be 21-20. USA calls timeout.

Ok... a 3 point lead late in the set and then Australia caught fire and took the first set 22-20. Still have a chance though.

CLANCY'S HAND SETTING --
Is it just me, or does Clancy set spinning tops most of the time? I watched on Youtube the semis vs. Brazil, especially first set, and I kept being surprised the sets weren't called.
I thought I had read that FIVB was tightening up on those calls, but no evidence of that in that semi.

I noticed that too, great intimidation/distraction tactic but if I were the setter I would walk over, grab her arms and start screaming about interference

For some incomprehensibly stupid reason the womens gold medal match is blocked here. Not the semis mind you, or the bronze, just the gold

So if we would have said that the 4 US Women's teams would finish 2nd, 5th, 9th and 17th, what order would you have put them in before the start of the tournament? That, I would respectfully suggest, is the beauty of beach volleyball!!!

Got to watch it. U.S. led most of the way through the first set, then they pressed Larsen's passing, some nasty floats and the passes weren't too good. Went from being in the lead to struggling to keep it. They had a chance on dig for game point, too... and it went through Emily's hands. It looks like they just got tight and couldn't recover. Then the serving by Australia got tougher. Great finish for the Americans!
