Looks like the Friars have had some nice offseason upgrades to their facilities:

Any word from Creighton and Marquette's practices? I wonder how Lines and Kostelac are fitting in.

Kostelac will play on the pin and has been terminating in-system at a high rate. I see her as the #2 offensive option behind Keeley Davis. Kostelac won’t play more than 3-4 rotations as her back row speed is lacking, and Creighton has added talent at DS. Creighton’s right side attack suffered by the unexpected transfer of Zumach; as the only experienced pin hitter Kostelac will have ample opportunities to swing.

I feel like I remember her playing there but I'm not 100%

Putting both Kostelac and Davis ahead of Zimmerman?

Really curious if anyone here got to go to the Creighton scrimmage last Saturday and could give some insight into how their whole lineup is shaking out. There’s no video or stats from that match.

I feel like I remember her playing there but I'm not 100% Zimmerman played right side for the first few weeks of the season last year. After getting injured, Zumach took over the RS position. My impression is that Zimmerman is currently even with Kostelac for the #2 OH position. Zimmerman played a lot with the first team in last weekend's intrasquad match and is also quite adept at playing back row. Either Ballenger or Welty will probably start at RS, with the other one starting at MB.

I'm not sure, but she reportedly did decently well last spring in the back row and was getting set as a back row hitter. If she can pass well enough, that bodes well for Kostelac. In my opinion, Zimmerman is noticeably more athletic and has a significant higher ceiling than Kostelac, while Kostelac has more experience and a pretty impressive arm.

Over in the Black Ink ranking thread, they claim that Creighton is returning 4/7 starters and 60% of 2018 production; Villanova returns 6/7 starters and 80% of 2018 production; and Georgetown returns 3/7 starters and 55% of 2018 production.

See the first post in this thread for more info: "But the offensive cupboard isn’t bare -- they’re returning All-Big East and Hon. Mention AA Setter Madelyn Cole, second-team All-Big East MB Megan Ballenger and All-Big East Tournament MB Naomi Hickman. The defense will be ably anchored by 2017 Big East defensive POY Brittany Witt."

They have a chance to be good as both Davis (red shirt freshman) and Zimmerman are former Gatorade players of the year for the respective states. Kostelac might also play a big role. At MB, Hickman has improved noticeably and is putting up a solid block, but has not been a big offensive presence during her first two years and Ballenger is solid with a great arm, but not someone to really carry a team. Setter and libero are both solid and that might help the new outsides.
