So Ella Mae Powell coy called up from the CNT to the Pan Am Cup TT? Good for her!

Interesting to see that Lee played Opposite in the two sets she was on. Plummer was OH1 all four sets, I’m pretty sure she was OH2 in the match against Canada. That's disappointing -- Plummer should be playing OPP It really is seeing as she’d be the best option there for even the “A” team. A waste of time and talent. However I thought Mae played really well. By far the most consistent setter on that team from what I’ve seen in scrimmages. She sets the hitter, and not a system; big difference when you consider someone 6’6 needs to be set differently then someone 6’1.

Re: Plummer it didn’t do her any favors that she played OH for the majority of NCAA career, although it certainly doesn’t take that much to see how dynamite she is on the right side. Wasted opportunity I agree (unless by some miracle chance she has a spectacular pro season on the right), but she still has some challenges to overcome to reach the next level.

That’s fair, I do think that passing needs improvement

Just curious, has there been an OH that wasn’t that great of a passer in college but made significant strides in that department when they went pro? It seems like most of the current NT players who are considered good passers were already good in college (Larson, Robinson). Is it possible for players to get better at passing once they start pro?

Michelle Bartsch Hackley wasn’t a primary passer at ILL

I don't think this is a big issue because she plays the right side so naturally and dominantly. Maybe against really tall and accomplished blockers, but who has these at the collegiate level -- not many I can think of. She is very good as an OH collegiately because of her size and spike velocity, but at the Pro level the size difference will be smaller and you have to pass at a pretty high level.

Hill is the only one that I can think of off the top of my head in recent years. She didn't pass much/as much as the rest of the OH pool on the NT.

If my memory serves me well. Hill was a MB when she was in college and converted to opposite during her seniors. When she try out for the NT kiraly saw a big potention on her in OH position.
I think it will be the same with plummer. Remember larson is on her early 30's, Hill and mbh are on their late 20's. I think they are on searching for players who can replace them. There is a big possibility that larson even hill will retire after tokyo 2020 and will need players to fill in their position.
If kiraly put plummer in OPPOSITE position she will have hard time the line still has drews, murphy, lowe, cuttino and now Thompson. Kristal rivers was also a big threat for that position she is 5'11 but her skills are promising she won mvp in german league and her team won championship. See? Plummer has better chance in OH position.

I think it will take time really to have good passing. She should work on it if kiraly really wants to see her play on that position.
