Tina will not be playing NCAA this season as she will be preparing for the Olympics, she plans on returning next season to play and graduate. Has she publicly mentioned it anywhere out of curiosity?

Thanks! Glad that’s settled. 2021 should be the Trojans year if all goes as planned.

Don’t think this has been mentioned... Laurel Weaver is now the Volunteer Assistant Coach. Welcome to the Trojan Family, Coach Weaver! usctrojans.com/sports/womens-beach-volleyball/roster/coaches/laurel-weaver/4972That being said, when was the last time the Trojans didn’t have an Olympic gold medal winner as the volunteer coach? Will have to dig through the archives. Still, glad to see a female player being given the chance to break into collegiate coaching. Edit: Jeff Carlson, 2013 staff, preceded Misty May-Treanor, Dain Blanton, and Eric Fonoimoana.

Or one could look at it as she finished up her undergrad and her 4 year commitment to indoor, Beach VB didn't have the $ for her advanced degree AND she wanted to pursue a Graduate Degree. She was offered a 5th year scholarship and she still left. 😔

Wait, make that any degree from USC vs. LB St.

Wait, make that any degree from USC vs. LB St. From an alumni standpoint, yes. The communication degree itself, no.

Um, just too many HH women on this squad! 😝. It will surely mix up some people for the next two years. 🤭. The two sisters were going to hard enough. Haley Hallgren Hailey Harward Harper Hallgren Is anyone going to bring up the K Plummer to SC Beach rumor again now that her former partner is a Trojan? On a more serious note, maybe now break up Dorn-Ebertin to block for Harward and Dreeuws? 1) Hallgren - Slater 2) Nourse - Nourse 3) Dennis - Kaiser 4) Dorn - Harward 5) Ebertin - Dreeuws With Doig, Hallgren, Castillo, Vasquez, or Myszkowski possibly stepping up for a starting spot. Dennis as a 3? She couldn't hold her own in the 4 slot last year. Seems like a great person, but she hasn't shown much on the sand.

Thanks! Glad that’s settled. 2021 should be the Trojans year if all goes as planned. One "ringer" if you can put it that way, has a lesser effect on the outcome of Beach matches than it does Indoor Volleyball (e.g. Plummer, Thompson, Pressley), basketball, softball (pitcher), football (quarterback), etc. In Beach no player can "take over the game" on all 5 courts. Beach is really 5 unrelated match outcomes added up, and the "ringer" can only directly affect 1 of the 5 outcomes. There is a smaller additional effect with the trickle down of talent into teams 2-5, but not much. So the #1 team will probably be unstoppable assuming even a modest sideout game of her partner, but USC still has to win 2 of the other 4 matches without Graudina. IMHO, Graudina has already caught up to Claes in terms of skill. Claes a little better in sideout and Graudina a better blocker. It will be interesting to see which emerges as the more valuable player in FIVB over the next five years.

Sometimes, one impact player can still make a huge difference between winning and losing. Yes, they can't necessarily affect the outcome of all the games, but it does allow you to have another quality player move down to the two spot and so on (your trickle effect). Also, during the NCAA Tournament, the match ends with 3 wins for a team. Oftentimes, a team with a "ringer" will put down their opponent quicker, giving their team a chance to win two more first.
Agreed, it will be interesting to see who impacts the game more. I like Graudina.

Anna liked her a lot, but she hasn't quite had the career some thought she would have. She hasn't stepped up her game in her time at USC.

Frequently seems slow and indecisive. Hopefully she will not be starting on any flight, 3 years has been enough. Lets give someone else the opportunity Joy has had.

I agree that at a certain point, you have to start giving the newcomers the opportunity.
