OMG! Don’t give me a heart attack! well, she’s likely going somewhere to play beach cause she didn’t play beach for Stanford last year - which gives her two years of beach eligibility left. Her options are USC, Pepperdine, UCLA, Hawaii, FSU and maybe CalPoly if she wants a shot at a national championship. She’s already used to Cardinal - now just add some Gold ✌️ Nope! She’s graduating in dec and going to play overseas for BIG 💰hoping for a spot with women’s team for 2024. She’s training with them now.

Hope not , go be a pro Tina. Here's the problem with that... there is no Latvian partner good enough to help her make a living of playing volleyball. I suppose she could get a little sponsorship even if her average finish is 9th or lower, but not much. This just isn't like the old AVP days where a playing pair didn't have to be countrymates. When you stop to think about it, the FIVB is destroying freedom by requiring players to be from the same country. This means that players not from the USA, Brazil or Germany and maybe Russia and the Netherlands have a real problem finding a partner of equal ability. Look at Menengatti... a really great defender with no blockers of her quality. Same for Graudina. Imagine if there were a Korean of the ability of Hughes or Sponcil who wants to play pro beach... can't do it without a suitable partner. Why should pro volleyball have to be restricted to players of the same citizenship? That's just nuts.

The international transfer rules for dual citizens may be relaxed soon with "right to work" complaints. Players like Graudina may have more flexibility in the near future without a 2 year hiatus. But if Latvian men have succeeded why not women?

Playing for Latvia, she is their top team, and guaranteed entry into every FIVB tournament (at least in the qualifier), and likely into the Olympics. Could she find a stronger partner in the USA? Maybe, but she would have to play Country Qualifiers to get into any of the bigger FIVB tournaments, and have virtually no chance of being in the top two to get to the Olympics.

I agree that Graudina’s shouldn’t change federations, because I don’t think her potential Latvian partners are actually that bad, however, I think it’s silly to think she’d be in CQ. She has a higher ceiling than any of the US bigs outside of Alix (factoring in that KWJ will be retiring soon), and would likely surpass Summer and Clare as a full time player.

Playing for Latvia, she is their top team, and guaranteed \ I'm going to guess she might have two distinct goals:
1) being an Olympic athlete and all the experiences that come with that 2) making a living playing pro beach volleyball
She might achieve 1) playing for Latvia, but it's not automatic. Qualification requires being a top 15 World Ranked Team, or winning one of a couple of different last chance tournaments.. there is no guarantee for this Olympics.
She will never achieve 2) with the current crop of Latvian defenders.
Should she change federations, and except for whoever Klineman picks, would likely have her pick of defenders (let's just say Stockman, Hughes, or Sponcil), in which case she would have a top 8 or so team in the world, and make a nice living playing both FIVB, AVP, and some sponsorship.
So whether her goal is only 1), or only 2), or both, in all cases she should give it a try with a Latvian partner, and if that fails, after Tokyo switch federations and go for Olympics 2024 as the second team behind Klineman+partner.

Wandering around the USA Junior Beach Nationals in Manhattan, word is that USC will announce tomorrow. Only other info is who it isn’t. We've heard this song before...

Yeah. OTOH, he’s inheriting a lot of talent, has some really, really good recruits in the pipe as well. If he hires a strong assistant, it could work.
