2019 Rules & Regulations:
The Draft
Rosters:
1. An athlete must be listed on her team’s online roster by the time of the first match of the season in order to be eligible.
| a. If an athlete is removed from her team’s online roster during the season (i.e. Ceasar in 2018), she can only be replaced with an add/drop. |
2. Each team roster will be comprised of 12 athletes. 3. Team rosters:
| a. Each team roster must include all of the following at all times:
|
| - 4 OHs/OPPs (no differentiation between pin attackers required) |
| - 3 MBs |
| - 2 Ss |
| - 2 Ls |
| - 1 player of any position |
| b. At least one of the 12 athletes on the roster must be a true or redshirt freshman in their first season of collegiate competition. |
| c. During the draft, an athlete’s roster position will the position she played during the last five matches of the 2018 NCAA season, regardless of the position listed on her team’s online roster. |
| - If an athlete played multiple positions (i.e. S/OPP), they may count toward either position. |
| - For freshmen or athletes that did not play the 2018 NCAA season, their position will be the position they’re listed as on their team’s 2019 online roster. |
| d. An athlete may not fill more than one position at a time on the team roster. |
| e. After the draft, the position that the athlete currently plays at the time of the add/drop will be the position she can fill on a team roster, regardless of if her position changes later or the position is different than what is listed on her team’s online roster. |
| f. Changes to a team roster are allowed in the form of an add/drop. Participants may make unlimited add/drops after the draft is complete through Sunday, September 1 at 11:59 PM ET. After that, participants are allotted three add/drops for the remainder of the season. |
| - Any add/drop made during a week of competition will not take effect until the next week of competition.
| | - Emergency add/drop (NEW FOR 2019): each participant will be allotted one emergency add/drop to be used in the event that an athlete is removed from her team’s roster in the middle of the season (for whatever reason) or suffers a season-ending injury AND you have already used your three regular add/drops. |
4. Active Rosters (weekly rosters):
| a. Each participant will choose 10 active players to place on their “active roster” for competition each week in the following format: |
| OH: |
| OH: |
| OH: |
| MB: |
| MB: |
| S: |
| L: |
| Player of any position: |
| Player of any position: |
| Player of any position: |
| b. An athlete cannot fill a position on the active roster that she is not filling on the team roster. |
| c. Only stats from the athletes on the active roster will count toward team totals.
|
| d. Any athlete(s) designated as a libero may not accumulate kills or blocks at any time, even if that player also satisfies another minimum position requirement (i.e. L/OH Kelli Bates in 2017). |
| e. Active roster submissions are due by Monday at 5:00 PM ET for every week except weeks 1 and 3. Rosters must be submitted to an administrator via PM or posted in the official league thread. If you are playing one of the administrators, send your roster to an administrator that you aren’t playing. |
| - Active rosters for Week 1 are due by Thursday, August 29 at 11:59 PM ET. |
| - Active rosters for Week 3 are due by 11:00 AM ET. |
| f. Once a roster is submitted, it is final and no changes can be made. |
| g. If you do not submit an active roster by the deadline, your roster from the previous week of competition will be carried over to the current week. |
| - If you do not submit an active roster for the first week of competition, your first 10 draft picks that satisfy the required position minimums will comprise your first active roster. |
I'd like to ask a clarifying question re the draft and positions (and I'll use an example). You essentially adopted the same rules as last year, which is fine, but I'd like to know if the hard line is the position(s) the player played for the last 5 matches to end the season. Are you giving any exceptions? Example- Brooke Nuneviller. She played the entire season (more specifically for this league the last 5 matches) as a libero for Oregon. There is talk of her moving to the OH this year. A rigid reading of the rule is that in the draft, she can ONLY be counted as a libero (and presumably until the season starts and she officially makes a position change in an official match). And if she's selected during the draft or before the 1st match, she can only be designated as a libero and thus ineligible to accumulate kills and blocks. If she does switch to the OH, only after the season begins, can a team pick her up and designate her as an OH. True?

Brooke Van Sickle of Hawaii, a transfer from Oregon, can possibly play L, DS, or OH. Whatever position she plays, I think she’ll put up numbers in either digs or kills. There’s no way she sits.

We simply can't go by the position a player MIGHT play if we're requiring every participant to fill position quotas on their rosters. We have to draw a line somewhere. If someone wants kills and blocks from Nuneviller, don't draft her.

If someone wants kills and blocks from Nuneviller, don't draft her. If you drafted two other bros, could you use here as a floater? Well, there are no restrictions on the position of the 12th player on everyone's rosters as long as all the roster requirements are fulfilled. However, since the only position that Nuneviller can be drafted as is a libero, it wouldn't matter. She would be a third libero in your example. She cannot be drafted as an OH (or any other position) until she actually plays OH. Positions on the team roster do not change when the player changes positions in real life. Once a player is on a roster, her position is locked in until she is dropped.

To what decimal will the per match results be divided to? (i.e. to the hundredth A/M 42.43 or to the tenth A/M 42.4)

Just to be super explicit on how to calculate your per-match stats:
For each weekend: - Total points per category per player - Divided by number of matches - Round to 2 decimals (hundredths place)** - Add averages of all players**For rounding, if 3rd decimal (thousandth place) is 5 or higher, you increase the 2nd decimal. If 3rd decimal is 4 or lower, you leave the 2nd decimal as-is. So 4.333 is 4.33 and 4.666 is 4.67. Basic rounding rules. --- So do NOT add these numbers and then round: Player | Matches | Kills/match | Player 1 | 3
| 11.333333333333333
| Player 2 | 3 | 12.333333333333333
| Player 3 | 3 | 8.666666666666667
| Player 4 | 3 | 6.666666666666667 | Player 5 | 3 | 13.666666666666667 | Player 6 | 3 | 17.333333333333333
| Player 7 | 3 | 17.666666666666667
| Player 8 | 3 | 19.666666666666667 | Player 9 | 4 | 5.75 | Player 10 | 2 | 17.5 | |
Round AND THEN add:
Player | Matches | Kills/match | Player 1 | 3
| 11.33
| Player 2 | 3 | 12.33
| Player 3 | 3 | 8.67
| Player 4 | 3 | 6.67 | Player 5 | 3 | 13.67 | Player 6 | 3 | 17.33
| Player 7 | 3 | 17.67
| Player 8 | 3 | 19.67 | Player 9 | 4 | 5.75 | Player 10 | 2 | 17.5 | |
Total is 130.59--- So trojansc, if two posters using the bolded method above are tied down to the hundredth place, then yes, they are tied. FWIW, mathematically, I think ties should be less likely this year than in years past.
