Canada takes Set 1 vs Korea! Trailing early in set 2 though.... Turkey defeats Germany in 4. Pool B is the toughest pool with Pool F just behind it. Canada down 1-2 they came out fighting in the first but seem to be struggling with consistency.

With Kim at the service line, Canada shanks two straight serves to give Korea the 3-1 win.

Canada played well enough for stretches to win, but service errors and break down in serve receive is what decided this game. I personally really like Van Ryk and Gray on the left, with Belanger being able to play as a passing opposite it’s a good move. Unfortunately they allowed runs at the very end of each of the three sets they lost

I really liked watching Tandara play as an OH. She got aced once but her passing wasn't a liability. Plus she hit 9/14. Granted....the opponent was Cameroon......so it goes with a grain of salt. I am also loving Lorenne the more I watch her play. I was doubtful of Brazil going the distance in this pool. The Dominican Republic should push them but I just think Brazil is a more cohesive team with slightly more depth. I am curious who will win Saturday between Cameroon and Azerbaijan? I definitely thought the latter would have put up more of a fight. Watching this has me wondering why the FIVB doesn't include any African teams in the VNL? I mean they would get knocked around the first few years but if China on the men's side can be a core team and consistently end up in last place then why not include an African team on the women's side AND the men's side as a core team so they can develop more? It just doesn't make a whole lot of sense if you are trying to GROW THE GAME........oh well...... Do you remember what Brazil’s starting lineup was? Thank you! Yup! Macris, Leia, Bia, Mara, Lorenne (Opp), Tandara, Gabi. In the third set Suelen and Carol came in for Leia and Mara and we saw the double sub of Roberta and Ana Paula all three sets.

Could any of today’s matches be competitive AND realistically matter when it comes to who wins the pool? I wouldn't count Belgium out vs. Netherlands. Also, Poland can be erratic, but Puerto Rico has really struggled lately so I expect Poland to take care of business. The rest of the matches probably won't matter, but anything can happen! I'd love to see Mexico over Russia, but even with Bricio and Rangel it's still probably impossible. Azerbaijan was so bad against DR yesterday. Rahimova averaged over twenty points per match at the World Championships, but didn't reach double figures. They have a young team, Brazil will probably steamroll them.

Mexico got rolled by Russia the first two sets but is putting up a better fight, trailing 9-10 in the 3rd
Azerbaijan is right in with Brazil in set 2, leading 18-17. Rahimova getting going. She's got 10 points so far.

Brazil went up 22-20, but Rahimova scored two aces and caused an overpass on the next serve to get Azerbaijan 2 set points at 24-22!
Azerbaijan takes the second set, 25-23! Match tied 1-1.
