Florida to me isn’t going to be as impressive as everyone makes them out to seem. Last year they only played Kentucky, Tennessee and Mizzou once, and lost to them all. This year they only have to play Kentucky twice and all the other top squads once. I think if they would’ve had to have played them more than once we would’ve seen Florida finish 4th in the standings. All four of those teams return almost all their rosters.
Missouri has the short end of the stick by far this year with scheduling, having to play Kentucky, Tennessee, LSU, Texas A&M, and South Carolina twice. Sheesh. I wanted to put them higher, maybe second behind Kentucky, but no one else in my top 4 has that many tough teams scheduled.
LSU could spoil the top 4, they should be hungry after last season.

Very true. I almost put Mississippi St ahead of UF

Vanderbilt added volleyball? Dark horse for 2019! Just added this year. vbshrink had them in his 14-team-long prediction list, so I figured I would add them here. They have no schedule posted yet. Maybe the club team will play this first season? Thought that was an April Fool's joke.

Beating Nebraska in their own house was just a fluke.

Kentucky IMO is the better team and I wouldn’t be surprised at all to see Mizzou or Tennessee upset them. That Nebraska match was the first game of the year.

I didn't read that you said they weren't very good. Multiple injuries did affect the team down the road. It was frustrating, but being the tough team they were, they perservered and advanced to dance. Still, not very impressive.

Kentucky is very good but was not going through the growing pains and injuries as was UF. Beating Nebraska the beginning or end of the year is considered a good win.

This is going to sound like I'm hating on Florida's parade but these are just some of my thoughts after rewatching a couple games from this season (especially when Hall was out). I put Florida as #2 because at times this season they have lacked terminators. Some people may disagree, that's fine but that is my observation. Obviously this can be blamed in the passing, setting, etc. but I think it was the Florida hitters. Yes, the Monserez sisters last season were not All-American caliber setters, but they still put out hittable balls that could be put away last season. To put it in perspective the setting in 2017 was not the best but there were still hitters like Snyder, Joseph, and Alhassan that could put the ball away. To be fair Florida's offense is pretty simple so I don't think that much blame can be put on the setters when the system they're instructed to run is not super dynamic. I get it there's a time to keep the ball in play, but tipping hittable sets where the libero doesn't have to move or free balling the ball via platform simply is not cutting it. There are other ways to keep the ball in play without making it super easy for the opposing side. I just felt that when Hall was out there were many times where Soko, Hammons, and even Carlton just simply could not put a ball away and the passing wasn't always there to run Kramer. I'm excited to see the Gators this year improve and grow but those were just my thoughts after this year.

I hope it's Florida. Still think Kentucky gets more hype than warranted. They'll be good but eh. Florida almost always has a few dreadful matches though so not sure.

It seems like last preseason, most people had Kentucky-Florida as a lock for 1-2 in conference then everyone else. Kentucky did dominate the conference, but Florida finished 3rd. While it often feels like some believe Florida-Kentucky have been the only teams that have mattered in the SEC over the lats 9 years, it hasn't actually worked that way at least in conference.

They could put up a hittable ball for the most part, but where they lacked was establishing a good tempo. I view it similarly to Texas. Shook could put up a hittable ball for the most part, but the tempo just wasn’t there. It didn’t look smooth. Just seeing the few times Carton was able to set this past season, her sets and timing looked really smooth.
