Well, not surprisingly it didn't take long for BLUE to fire back. If tOSU wants to trademark "THE" then Michigan says "OF" should be ours ...

I would like to agree with Wolfgang but that would make me just that much dumber.

OSU sold its soul for the sake of football. Sure, that's why it has name recognition, but what a price to pay. Seriously, why would you be proud of a school whose entire identity is based on football? People who don't follow football (or even passively follow football) see Ohio State in other ways. They have a lot of $$$ and do a lot of good research, like other schools. Ohio State has a lot of very good programs in health sciences, law, business, fine arts, engineering, among others. I used to follow football and now I don't so I'm aware of Ohio State's reputation. Frankly, I hate their football program but as a school, I don't associate them solely for their football. Note: I have no association or connection with Ohio State University in any way. None of my family members ever attended Ohio State or even applied there because we hate their football team. They do have very good academics, but just like Notre Dame and Michigan. And just like Notre Dame and Michign, their academic reputation is magnified by their football prowess. Where as schools like, Alabama, Auburn, Clemson, and Oklahoma does not have the same academic reputation as those other schools and in my mind football is their only claim to fame, but people will pretend that these are academic powerhouses. On a completely different scale, I think of Stanford as a fine academic institution and football does not enhance or devalue their academic reputation.
