Are the Flyers playing this year? No schedule posted. In their recent press release regarding the preseason poll they state that "UD looks to kick off its spring 2021 season in early February. The complete slate will be released soon." As @avid mentioned, Louisville has them down for an exhibition on February 6. My guess is that they are waiting for the A-10 to release their schedule, which should be very soon. VCU and George Mason are scheduled to play next weekend. A10 schedules are out. I think everybody except Dayton and St Louis have posted schedules. The VCU-Mason match is non-conference (they’re in separate divisions and don’t otherwise play each other). Most A10 teams have conference matches Feb 5-7. If Dayton has an exhibition that weekend, maybe they have a bye week?

Dayton loses in 5 to Saint Louis to open their 2021 spring season. That might already be the nail in the coffin for an A-10 At-large bid.

Dayton isn't playing a non-conference (well, one match against a mediocre Xavier team). VCU didn't schedule anybody tournament-caliber. SLU maybe could've gotten there with Western Kentucky, Marquette, Iowa State, Kansas St plus Dayton x4 and VCU x3. Maybe they still could, but I don't think they're good enough (they got swept by WKU). I don't even think an undefeated Dayton or VCU who got upset in the A10 final would've made it with only 18 at larges.

Dang didn't realize they were playing again tonight. That's tough after a 5 setter this afternoon, but Dayton takes set 1 25-17

One out of Dayton/St Louis/VCU will miss the conference tourney so the ones that count in the standings will be intense. Dayton and SLU play 3 conference matches, while VCU plays Dayton and SLU twice each.

Dayton is riding a 18 set winning streak going into the last weekend of the regular season. Could be an interesting first round for someone..

But hasn’t even clinched a spot in the A10 tournament yet. And the team with a chance to knock them out and take their spot... is the one who nearly knocked them out of the NCAA Tournament last year in the A-10 Semifinals. That was a pretty epic match, but Saint Louis came up just short.

And SLU would have to win both matches, but these reduced conference schedules certainly produce some drama.

That SLU win was Dayton's first contest of the season, coming off of an early COVID break with little practice and playing on the road against a team that had four matches under its belt already. They still went 5. I like Dayton's chances.

But, this is NCAA Volleyball-March Madness edition. And I've seen many crazier things happen in November when teams have their backs against the wall trying to get into the postseason!
