Nothing makes me feel better than the Yankees losing, even if it's in the World Series. Anything to do with the 16 consecutive post season losses to the Yanks? I'm sure payback is coming around soon enough. Something. But I just really hate the Yankees. Franchises that have such big advantages over everyone else are not my thing. See Stanford.

Maybe I have ADHD. I get so restless watching baseball. Batter takes a pitch, steps out of the box, spits, adjusts his helmet, batting gloves, cup, looks around, taps his shoes with the bat, gets back in the box with his hand up to tell the ump “I’m still not ready”. 🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪🤪
But because Dodgers or Yankees are not involved, I will most likely watch some of the World Series.

Well, there is less of that now. The Commissioner has put an effort into eliminating that. There is still talk of a pitch clock. It's been tested in the minors and was used in spring training.

Funny story. When my son was probably 7ish, he played in a coach pitch league. His coach was very knowledgeable, but a little intense. Before the first game, he sat the boys down with all the parents there and went over his rules: shirts tucked in, stay sitting on your carpet, everyone touch first base on your way out to the field, etc. At the end he said, “Everyone must have a cup. You will not play if you don’t have a cup.” My son raises his hand and says, “Is it okay to bring a water bottle instead?” Parents all died, Coach didn’t even crack a smile.

Apparently the rule this year is that teams can only win on the road?

The commissioner wants to improve the pace of the games, but the players refuse because they're not willing to get rid of their stupid idiosyncrasies and either throw a pitch or step into the batter's box. The time of games for the 5 games so far: Game 1: 3:43 Game 2: 4:01 Game 3: 4:03 Game 4: 3:48 Game 5: 3:19 Seriously is that acceptable? No wonder baseball is losing fans. I'd much rather read a book about players I never saw than watch today's players. It's a JOKE. Watching a game should never feel like a root canal or pick some other boring occasion.

Why speed up the game??? 😁 LOL. I have sat behind those same girls, I swear. In fact, let me tell you a story: Mariners game Sept 14 this year. Dad and I were in row 11 behind home plate. Two girls sitting in front of us. Seemed young and younger (Dad said he heard the younger one say she was in 9th grade). Usher comes down and says, "Your parents want to talk to you but they can't come down." (I guess because they didn't have tickets for that area.) So the girls leave for a bit, then come back. Later, two more women show up. 20s, maybe late-20s. With beers, which were pretty obviously not their first beers of the evening. One starts talking with the two who had been sitting there. The other one says nothing, but just seems to be kind of stroking the talking one. I mean, literally stroking. Things got a little weird then. I think maybe the newcomers knew who the first two girls were but hadn't actually ever met them before. The one was very interested in talking with them, but the other seemed very, very jealous that the one she was stroking and petting was not paying the least bit of attention to her. She absolutely completely positively ignored the two girls that her friend was animatedly talking with. They stayed like this for at least half an inning, maybe a whole inning. None of the four girls seemed the least interested in the game. (It was, however, a boring game. Mariners were losing and the game was slow.) Then they ordered two more beers, which seemed to me like probably the last thing in the world they actually needed. Finally the one who had been doing the talking said, "I'm leaving now", and started to get up. The other one literally grabbed her shirt and tried to pull her back to her seat, but she ignored it. So then the other one got up, grabbed the beers, and they left together. (Both Dad and I surreptitiously checked to see if they had left beers for the obviously under-age girls they had been talking to. They had not.)

Ironic how there is a fair amount of discussion on VT about the pitfalls of a single-elimination tournament.
You know, a great team like 2018 Minnesota, gets upset by Oregon. One off night and you're screwed.
Yet, MLB with its multi-game playoff format is now reduced to what amounts to a one-game single-elimination tournament.
